The outfielder has heated up at the plate, homering four times over his last 14 games while batting .294 with 12 RBI during that stretch. • Cam Smith RF | HOU

Astros' Cam Smith: Homers in loss

Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Rangers.

Smith had gone 0-for-11 with a sacrifice fly over his previous four games. He was well on his way to another poor showing, but he turned it around with an eighth-inning homer. The outfielder is batting .218 with a .669 OPS, 12 homers, 34 RBI, 39 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple and nine stolen bases over 96 contests this season.

Rangers' Brandon Nimmo: Walk-off knock Sunday

Nimmo went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Astros.

Nimmo's three hits were all singles, and two of them drove in runs. His last of the game was a walk-off knock against Josh Hader. Since recovering from a brief absence due to a shoulder injury, Nimmo has gone 8-for-29 (.276) with five RBI over eight games. Taveras tallied his second-highest RBI output of the season, last collecting at least three RBI during the April 20 win in Kansas City. Angels' Josh Lowe: Pops homer in loss

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Twins.

Lowe has yet to record a multi-hit effort in July, going 5-for-30 (.167) with two homers over his last nine games. He got the Angels on the board first with his second-inning blast Sunday. Lowe is now hitting .208 with a .620 OPS, eight homers, 21 RBI, 17 runs scored, four doubles and three stolen bases over 60 contests this season. He has been getting mostly steady playing time as a fourth outfielder recently.

  • Brice Matthews CF | HOU

Astros' Brice Matthews: Pulled with left knee injury

The Astros announced that Matthews was removed from Sunday's game against the Rangers after the first inning due to a left knee injury, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Matthews hurt his knee when he collided with the outfield wall with two outs in the bottom of the first while attempting to reel in a deep fly off the bat of Josh Jung. Taylor Trammell pinch hit for Matthews when his first turn in the batting order came up in the second inning. Trammell will likely serve as the Astros' primary option in center field if the knee issue forces Matthews to the injured list coming out of the All-Star break.

  • Jake Fraley RF | TB

Rays' Jake Fraley: Pulled off rehab assignment

Fraley (groin) was pulled off his rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Durham after feeling something in the area of his hernia surgery, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

He's been on the shelf nearly two months and is already eligible to be reinstated, but it's uncertain how much longer he'll remain on the injured list.
