Matt Vierling CF | DET
Tigers' Matt Vierling: Dealing with new injury
Vierling (adductor) encountered a setback recently when he suffered a heel injury, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Vierling landed on the 10-day injured list in late July with an adductor strain, and he now has a new injury to contend with. The 29-year-old will likely need a rehab assignment before being activated, and there is no timeline for his return.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Remains idle Friday
Buxton (hip) is out of the lineup for Minnesota's matchup with the White Sox on Friday.
As Buxton continues to manage discomfort in his right hip, he will sit out the series opener against the White Sox. Top prospect Walker Jenkins will make his major-league debut in center field and bat ninth in place of Buxton.

Riley Greene LF | DET
Tigers' Riley Greene: Aiming for rehab games this weekend
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that Greene (hamstring) is "doing really well," and the outfielder could be ready to begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Greene did some baserunning and took live fungoes Friday at Comerica Park as he continues to ramp up baseball activities. He's missed just a little over two weeks with a right hamstring strain, so Greene's rehab assignment should be brief. A return early next week seems likely.

Walker Jenkins CF | MIN
Twins' Walker Jenkins: Officially called up, batting ninth
The Twins selected Jenkins' contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
News broke Thursday that Jenkins was on his way to the big leagues, and his promotion is now official. The top prospect missed time with a shoulder injury this season, but when healthy he slashed .308/.407/.532 with 12 home runs, 17 stolen bases and a 42:48 BB:K over 69 games with St. Paul. Jenkins has primarily been a center fielder in the minors, but he's capable of handling all three outfield positions. He's starting in center field and batting ninth Friday versus the White Sox in his major-league debut.

Chase DeLauter RF | CLE
Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Slotted in Friday's lineup
DeLauter (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Friday's matchup with the Royals.
DeLauter, absent from the starting lineup for the previous three games, is seemingly past the worst of his hamstring issue. The 24-year-old entered the Guardians' most recent game against the Angels and contributed to a comeback win with a single in the ninth. DeLauter will act as the designated hitter and bat second for Cleveland's series opener against Kansas City.

Zach McKinstry RF | DET
Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Out against southpaw
McKinstry is not in the lineup for Friday's matchup with the Dodgers.
McKinstry will not face his old teammate Tarik Skubal on Friday, as he rides the bench against the left-hander. Ben Malgeri will take over in right field and bat sixth for Detroit.

Roman Anthony LF | BOS
Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Unlikely to be activated Friday
Anthony (finger) was spotted Friday at Polar Park with Triple-A Worcester, Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.
The Red Sox had left open the possibility that Anthony could be activated from the 60-day injured list prior to Friday's game against the Yankees. However, Anthony's presence at Worcester suggests he will continue his rehab assignment for at least one more day. The Red Sox begin a homestand Monday, so perhaps the club is targeting that day for Anthony's return to the active roster. Out since early May with a partially torn tendon in his right ring finger, Anthony is 7-for-23 with two home runs in his first seven rehab contests.

Jac Caglianone RF | KC
Royals' Jac Caglianone: Keeps mashing in five-hit, six-RBI game
Caglianone went 5-for-6 with a home run, a double, six RBI and two additional runs scored in Thursday's 13-2 win over the Blue Jays.
It was arguably a career-best showing by the slugging outfielder, who tallied career highs in both knocks and RBI on Thursday. Caglianone has been on an absolute tear since the start of August, batting .415 with six big flies, seven doubles, 26 RBI and three stolen bases in his last 82 at-bats. He's now slashing a strong .282/.332/.500 with 23 homers, 24 doubles, 66 RBI and six steals over 479 plate appearances in 2026.

Jonatan Clase LF | TOR
Blue Jays' Jonatan Clase: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Blue Jays transferred Clase (foot) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Clase has been on the injured list since July 22 due to left foot plantar fasciitis. His earliest eligibility to return is Sept. 20, which means there's a chance he will not make another big-league appearance in 2026. The outfielder was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster for the signing of Michael Lorenzen.
