  • Jonny DeLuca RF | TB

Rays' Jonny DeLuca: Three hits, steal in win

DeLuca went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Monday's 10-6 win over the Athletics.

This was DeLuca's second multi-hit effort over his last seven games. He has gone 8-for-24 (.333) with two home runs and three steals in that span, providing a decent mix of production despite his part-time role. For the season, he's hitting .266 with a .738 OPS, eight homers, 13 steals, 34 RBI, 32 runs scored and 15 doubles over 234 plate appearances. DeLuca is a right-handed-hitting option to complement lefties Cedric Mullins and Victor Mesa as a platoon partner, though DeLuca's also found his way into the lineup against some same-handed pitching.

  • Rays' Chandler Simpson: Notches two steals

Simpson went 2-for-5 with one RBI, one run scored and two stolen bases in Monday's 10-6 win over the Athletics.

Simpson has been performing at a high level in August, going 17-for-37 (.459) at the plate and 6-for-6 on the basepaths. The outfielder is now hitting .305 with a .696 OPS, 33 steals, 24 RBI, 49 runs scored, 12 doubles, six triples and no home runs over 111 contests. Simpson is unlikely to ever generate much power, but his speed has value when he's getting on base as much as he has lately.

  • Cam Smith RF | HOU

Astros' Cam Smith: Homers in three-hit effort

Smith went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a second RBI and two total runs scored in Monday's 6-3 extra-inning win over the Giants.

Smith has a pair of three-hit efforts and three homers over his last three games. The outfielder has had a lackluster season overall, but he's picked up the pace lately by hitting safely in eight of his last 10 games, batting .432 (16-for-37) in that span. Overall, he's hitting .226 with a .698 OPS, 16 homers, 44 RBI, 51 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples and 10 stolen bases over 117 contests.

  • Austin Martin LF | MIN

Twins' Austin Martin: Stuffs stat sheet in win

Martin went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, a stolen base and two additional runs scored in Monday's 9-5 win over the Orioles.

Martin was a thorn in the side of Baltimore pitching out of the leadoff spot, showing off both power and speed Monday. It was his first four-hit attack of the campaign as well as the first time he's homered and swiped a bag in a game this season. Martin has an .809 OPS in 120 at-bats versus left-handed pitchers as opposed to a .587 OPS over 157 at-bats against right-handers, and his lack of success against righties should continue to inhibit his fantasy upside.

  • Hector Osorio CF | TEX

Rangers' Hector Osorio: On mend from injury

High-A Hub City placed Osorio on the 7-day injured list July 24 due to an unspecified injury.

Osorio made just three appearances coming out of the All-Star break before being shut down. After opening the season at Single-A Hickory, Osorio has continued to produce at a high level since getting bumped up to the South Atlantic League on June 9. Over 34 games at Hub City, the 21-year-old outfielder from Venezuela has slashed .275/.370/.489 with eight home runs.

  • Rays' Cedric Mullins: Sitting versus southpaw

Mullins is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics.

The left-handed-hitting Mullins starts against some lefties, but he'll take a seat Monday as the A's send southpaw Jacob Lopez to the bump. Jonny DeLuca will patrol center field.

  • Evan Carter CF | TEX

Rangers' Evan Carter: Idle vs. left-hander

Carter is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Angels on Monday.

The Rangers are facing a southpaw for a second consecutive game, so Carter will be out of the lineup against while the Rangers start Ezequiel Duran, Wyatt Langford and Brandon Nimmo in the outfield from left to right. Carter has also struggled at the plate recently, having gone 1-for-22 with two RBI and seven strikeouts over his last eight outings.

  • Myles Straw LF | TOR

Blue Jays' Myles Straw: Fading back into reserve role

Straw is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

With George Springer (shoulder) returning to action Monday and with trade-deadline pickup Brett Bateman having settled in as the main replacement in center field for the departed Daulton Varsho, Straw looks poised to serve as a fourth outfielder for Toronto. Straw had started in eight of the Blue Jays' first nine games of August, going 7-for-32 (.219 average) with four doubles, one triple, one walk, one stolen base, four runs and one RBI.

  • Astros' Nelson Velazquez: Claimed off waivers by Houston

The Astros claimed Velazquez off waivers from the Cardinals on Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Velazquez had been booted off the Cardinals' 40-man roster this past weekend after slashing .216/.289/.432 with four home runs over 83 plate appearances. The 27-year-old is a candidate to get some starts in the outfield against left-handed pitching.

  • Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Loses spot on active roster

The Blue Jays optioned Schneider to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Schneider has been unable to get on track this season, sporting an ugly .142/.295/.274 batting line across 61 contests with the big club. Charles McAdoo is absorbing Schneider's roster spot and could also slide into Schneider's slot as the short side of a platoon in left field.
