  • Roman Anthony LF | BOS

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Encouraging start to rehab

Anthony (finger) served as the designated hitter and went 2-for-2 with two walks, a home run and two RBI for Double-A Portland on Tuesday.

Anthony kicked off his rehab assignment in style, rocking a two-run home run in the fifth inning that left Delta Dental Park in Portland. Given the length of his absence, Anthony is expected to play a significant number of games while on rehab. The Red Sox could draw out the assignment until September's roster expansion, but if Anthony shows he's ready before then, it would behoove a team positioning itself for the postseason to bring him to Boston as soon as possible.

  • Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Makes first rehab appearance

Gurriel (adductor) started in left field and went 0-for-4 with a walk and three strikeouts for Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Gurriel began a rehab assignment with the Aces and played eight innings in the field. The outfielder is in the midst of his third IL stint this season. He missed the start of the year while rehabbing from a torn ACL and then suffered a left hamstring injury in May before the adductor hit him in July. The Diamondbacks have a crowded outfield, and there is a question of how exactly Gurriel will fit in once he's ready.

  • Luis Lara RF | MIL

Brewers' Luis Lara: Launches first career homer

Lara went 3-for-6 with a home run, four RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 22-0 blowout win over the Mariners.

After going hitless in his first three at-bats, Lara collected hits in each of his final three. The highlight came during Milwaukee's nine-run eighth inning, when the 21-year-old launched a three-run homer off position player Leo Rivas for the first home run of his MLB career. Lara came to the plate again later in the frame and added an RBI single, scoring Milwaukee's 22nd run of the game, to cap his career-high four-RBI performance. Through 104 plate appearances, the rookie is slashing .242/.327/.363 with one homer, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Sam Antonacci LF | CHW

White Sox's Sam Antonacci: Gets aboard three times

Antonacci went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs.

Antonacci had gone 0-for-7 over his previous two games. However, he's now picked up a pair of steals in August and is up to 16 thefts in 23 attempts this season. He's hitting .273 with a .768 OPS, eight home runs, 36 RBI, 64 runs scored, 18 doubles and two triples over 105 contests in his first big-league season.

  • Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Homers again in win

Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.

Crow-Armstrong walked off the South Siders with a homer Monday, and he led off the bottom of the first with another long ball to open the scoring Tuesday. The star outfielder is up to 31 homers this season, including seven over 17 contests in August. He's hitting .282 with a .936 OPS, 79 RBI, 90 runs scored, 25 doubles, seven triples and 31 stolen bases over 126 contests as he is well on his way to a career year in most areas.

  • Jake McCarthy LF | COL

Rockies' Jake McCarthy: Picks up steal Tuesday

McCarthy went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers.

McCarthy had gone seven games without a multi-hit effort, batting just 3-for-26 (.115) in that span. The outfielder is up to 22 steals in 27 attempts this season, and he needs just five more thefts to set a career high. He's batting .295 with an .826 OPS, 13 home runs, 68 RBI, 61 runs scored, 26 doubles and seven triples over 111 contests. McCarthy's done well out of the leadoff spot for the bulk of the year, so he should have a chance to set some more personal bests before all is said and done.

  • Cam Smith RF | HOU

Astros' Cam Smith: Lifts homer in loss

Smith went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Angels.

Smith has homered four times over his last nine games, going 9-for-29 (.310) in that span. He mostly had a July to forget, but the outfielder has gotten himself back on track with the uptick in power lately. For the season, he's hitting .223 with a .694 OPS, 17 homers, 46 RBI, 54 runs scored, 15 doubles, three triples and 10 stolen bases over 123 contests.

  • Wade Meckler LF | LAA

Angels' Wade Meckler: Posts steal in win

Meckler went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Astros.

Meckler is batting .273 (15-for-55) in August, though he's also struck out 13 times over 16 games this month. The outfielder has mostly worked in left field, though he can slide over to right field if Josh Lowe is sitting out. Meckler has provided fairly steady hitting this season, batting .290 with a .742 OPS, three home runs, five steals, 20 RBI and 26 runs scored across 222 plate appearances.

  • Joshua Lowe LF | LAA

Angels' Josh Lowe: Goes yard Tuesday

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Astros.

Lowe has homered twice over his last four games, though those long balls are his only hits in that span. The outfielder sat out a couple of games last week, but he's since reclaimed a starting role in right field. Lowe is batting .202 with a .619 OPS, 10 homers, 26 RBI, 21 runs scored, six doubles and four stolen bases over 82 contests this season.

  • Padres' Fernando Tatis: Puts on show in win

Tatis went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Mets.

Tatis was the star of Tuesday's game, posting his first multi-homer effort of the year while also robbing a grand slam in the field. It continued a second-half power binge for the 27-year-old, who's gone deep 10 times while posting a 1.016 OPS in 30 games since the All-Star break. On the season, he's slashing .280/.353/.432 with 15 home runs, 60 RBI, 71 runs scored and 28 steals across 551 plate appearances.
