Dodgers' Kyle Tucker: Returning to starting lineup Tuesday

Tucker (knee/shin) is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against San Diego, per Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA.

After missing Sunday's series finale against the Giants, Tucker will return to the starting nine for Tuesday's series opener with the Padres. The 29-year-old will bat fifth and man right field for the Dodgers.

  • Carlos Cortes LF | ATH

Athletics' Carlos Cortes: Sitting against southpaw

Cortes is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.

The Angels have southpaw Yusei Kikuchi starting on the mound Tuesday, so the left-handed bat of Cortes will be out of the lineup to begin the game. The Athletics' starting outfielders Tuesday are Henry Bolte, Denzel Clarke and Lawrence Butler.

  • Tristan Peters CF | CHW

White Sox's Tristan Peters: On bench again Tuesday

Peters (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

It's the third straight absence due to a bruised left shoulder for Peters, who sustained the injury on a collision with the outfield wall Friday versus Detroit. Brenton Doyle is picking up another start in center field and is batting seventh against Kansas City lefty Daniel Lynch.

  • Brandon Nimmo RF | TEX

Rangers' Brandon Nimmo: Good to go Tuesday

Nimmo (illness) is starting in right field and batting fifth Tuesday against the Mets.

The veteran outfielder was scratched from the lineup Sunday due to a stomach bug but is ready for action after Monday's team off day. It's been a struggle for Nimmo through 17 games in September, as he has a .227/.292/.288 slash line and 30.6 percent strikeout rate.

  • Max Schuemann LF | NYY

Yankees' Max Schuemann: Optioned off active roster

The Yankees optioned Schuemann to the Florida Complex League on Tuesday.

He's clearing off the active roster in order to make space for the return of Jazz Chisholm (thumb). Schuemann reporting to the Yankees' FCL affiliate allows him to continue working out at the team's spring training complex in case he's needed in the future.

  • Lane Thomas LF | ATL

Braves' Lane Thomas: Gets injection, hits off tee

Thomas (intercostal) took some swings off a tee Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Thomas was diagnosed with a left intercostal strain late last week, but he was cleared to swing a bat shortly after that following a cortisone injection. Atlanta believes Thomas could be ready to return during the early portion of the postseason.

  • Jacob Young CF | WAS

Nationals' Jacob Young: Excluded from Tusday's lineup

Young is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Detroit.

While Young gets a breather, Dylan Crews will slide over to center field Tuesday and will be flanked by Daylen Lile in left field and James Wood in right field. Yohandy Morales will receive a start in the designated-hitter spot.

  • Royals' Isaac Collins: Exiting starting lineup

Collins is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

It marks the third time over the last four games that Collins has been out of the lineup, as he could be slipping into a reserve role. Nick Loftin will cover left field for the Royals in Tuesday's series opener.

  • Eli White CF | BOS

Red Sox's Eli White: Undergoes foot surgery

White underwent Lisfranc surgery on his right foot Tuesday.

White hasn't played in nearly two weeks, and the decision was made to have surgery after consultations. There's no word on how long his rehab will take, but White's season is over and there's a decent chance he's non-tendered this winter.

  • Jake Mangum CF | PIT

Pirates' Jake Mangum: Not in Pittsburgh lineup

Mangum is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cardinals.

Mangum's playing time has slipped a bit of late, as this will be his third time on the bench over the Pirates' last five contests. Ronny Simon is in right field and will bat seventh for Pittsburgh.
