Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Back in action Tuesday
Fermin (undisclosed) will start at third base and bat ninth in Tuesday's contest versus the Giants.
Fermin was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the White Sox with an undisclosed injury, and he did not see any action during Monday's series opener versus the Giants. However, the 27-year-old feels well enough to give it a go Tuesday as the Cardinals look to take the series.

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Wrist remains bothersome
DeLauter is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox after his right wrist sprain flared up during Monday's contest, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
The 24-year-old missed four games due to the wrist issue before returning to the lineup Wednesday in Baltimore, but he's apparently not fully past the injury. Manager Stephen Vogt said DeLauter should be considered day-to-day. Petey Halpin is picking up a start in the outfield Tuesday with DeLauter on the bench.

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Receiving Tuesday off
DeLauter is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
The rookie outfielder started the previous five games after missing four contests due to a wrist sprain, and he's gone 3-for-19 with four walks, a homer and a stolen base since rejoining the lineup. It's likely just a rest day for DeLauter, whose 125 contests this year shatter his previous high for games played in a season.

Blake Dunn CF | CIN
Reds' Blake Dunn: Needs another elbow surgery
Dunn will have ulnar nerve transposition surgery on his right elbow Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Dunn was already out for the season following internal brace surgery in August, and he's now set to undergo an additional operation on his elbow. The first surgery left Dunn a question mark for Opening Day next year, and it's possible Wednesday's procedure lengthens his timeline.

Angel Martinez LF | CLE
Guardians' Angel Martinez: Absent from Tuesday's lineup
Martinez (side) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Martinez will miss at least one start after exiting Monday's series opener due to right side inflammation. Steven Kwan will shift to left field Tuesday while Petey Halpin picks up a start in center.

Braden Montgomery RF | CHW
White Sox's Braden Montgomery: Exiting lineup again
Montgomery is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Cleveland.
He's now been absent from the lineup for two of the past three games, and his last two starts have come from the No. 9 spot in the lineup. Montgomery is just 4-for-34 (.118) at the plate in September. Tristan Peters will slide over to right field, and Brenton Doyle will start in center field Tuesday against Cleveland southpaw Foster Griffin.

Jacob Melton LF | TB
Rays' Jacob Melton: Out for season
The Rays recalled Melton from Triple-A Durham and placed him on the 60-day injured list Tuesday due to a right hamstring strain.
The 26-year-old missed most of August due to a right hamstring strain and appears to have aggravated the injury, which will bring an early end to his 2026 campaign. Melton was acquired from the Astros last winter and was limited to 45 games during his first year in the Rays organization. However, he was productive for Triple-A Durham when available, finishing with a .253/.346/.475 slash line, seven homers and 26 stolen bases.

Teoscar Hernandez LF | LAD
Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Posts well-rounded line Monday
Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional run, a walk and a stolen base against the Reds in a 4-1 victory Monday.
Hernandez gave Dodgers starter Tarik Skubal all the breathing room he needed with a two-run blast in the fourth inning to make the score 3-0. The veteran outfielder has had a great September so far, slashing .405/.500/.667 with two long balls, six runs, 14 RBI and three thefts through 12 contests. That's pushed Hernandez's OPS up to .757, which is on pace for his second-highest regular-season mark over the past four years.
