Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Smacks game-winning homer
Lawlar went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Cubs.
The 24-year-old broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning when he drove a Matthew Boyd changeup the other way for his third long ball of the season. In eight games since recovering from a hamstring strain and coming off the IL on Aug. 17, Lawlar has gone 6-for-24 (.250) with two homers, four runs and four RBI, but a 0:9 BB:K.

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Cleared to start Wednesday
Lawlar (head) will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Lawlar made an early exit from Tuesday's 5-4 win after being struck in the head by a pitch, but his removal from the game was merely a precaution while he was put through concussion tests. Manager Torey Lovullo indicated after the game that Lawlar passed the concussion protocol, and with no symptoms surfacing overnight, the 24-year-old will be ready to play in the series finale. Since being reinstated Aug. 17 after an extended stay on the injured list due to a left hamstring strain, Lawlar has gone 4-for-21 (.190 average) with one home run, three RBI and three runs in seven games.

Ryan Waldschmidt would be in line to start more often in center field if Lawlar has to miss time.

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Sitting again versus righty
Lawlar is absent from the lineup for Monday's game versus the Cubs.
Lawlar has started all five games versus left-handers since he returned from the injured list one week ago, but he has been out of the lineup both times the Diamondbacks have gone up against a righty. It's unlikely Lawlar will remain stuck in a short-side platoon indefinitely, but for the time being his playing time could remain unreliable.
