  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Goes deep in second game back

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Reds.

Playing in his second game back since returning from the injured list, Swanson popped his 19th home run of the season in the ninth inning. The shortstop missed about a month with an oblique strain, though he still has time to record his second straight 20-homer campaign and fifth of his MLB career. While the Cubs figure to ease Swanson back into action to a degree, he should still play frequently during the last week of the regular season with the team fighting for a playoff spot.

  • Mookie Betts SS | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Perfect at plate Saturday

Betts went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Giants.

Betts continues to swing a hot bat with three straight multi-hit efforts. He's batting .397 (25-for-63) with six home runs and seven doubles over 16 contests in September. The surge has him up to a .261 average and .785 OPS through 116 contests this season, and he's added 22 homers, 23 doubles, 67 RBI, 68 runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: On base four times in Saturday's loss

Turner went 2-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 10-3 loss to the Mets.

The star shortstop was busy on the basepaths Saturday but is struggling to build any momentum ahead of the playoffs. Turner has collected multiple hits in four of his last 11 games, but over that stretch he's batting just .256 (11-for-43) with two homers, three steals, five RBI and eight runs. Turner needs one more homer to record the fourth 20-20 campaign of his career.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Getting break Saturday

Bogaerts isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Miami.

Bogaerts has slashed .316/.409/.474 across 66 plate appearances while starting every game since the beginning of September, but the Padres will get him some rest Saturday. Jake Cronenworth will shift to shortstop as a result, putting Fernando Tatis at second base and allowing Samad Taylor to make a start in the outfield.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Back in lineup

Gimenez (hamstring) will start at shortstop and bat eighth Saturday against Texas.

After missing the Jays' last two games due to hamstring soreness, Gimenez will return to action to face Cal Quantrill and the Rangers on Saturday. The 28-year-old infielder was carrying a relatively hot bat before getting hurt, going 8-for-30 (.267) with a homer and five RBI over his last eight games.

  • Ronny Mauricio SS | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Recalled from Syracuse

The Mets recalled Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

With Jared Young landing on the 7-day concussion IL on Friday, Mauricio joins the active roster to replenish the Mets' infield depth. The 25-year-old owns a .795 OPS across 305 plate appearances at Triple-A this season but has gone just 9-for-50 in the majors.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Sitting down Saturday

Walls isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will move to the bench after going 1-for-4 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored during his first two games back from the IL. Jorge Mateo will pick up a start at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Konnor Griffin SS | PIT

Pirates' Konnor Griffin: Four hits in Friday's win

Griffin went 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI in Friday's 8-5 win over the Royals.

All four knocks were singles, but the precocious shortstop still did his job from the top of the order as part of a 15-hit barrage from the Bucs. Griffin is having a strong finish to his first MLB campaign, and over the last 10 games the 20-year-old sports a .311/.354/.422 slash line with three doubles, a triple, two steals, six runs and six RBI.

  • Rangers' Sebastian Walcott: Torrid postseason ends Friday

Walcott went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run scored in Double-A Frisco's loss Friday.

The loss ended the RoughRiders' postseason run, but Walcott was prominent in the three-game series. He went 4-for-11 with four walks, a solo home run and four steals. His regular season started late due to injury, but the Rangers' top prospect showed he's ready for a promotion to Triple-A Round Rock in 2027. Walcott posted a .329/.404/.608 slash line with 10 home runs, 14 doubles, 21 RBI, 12 steals and 48 runs scored over 39 regular-season contests, including two games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Knocks in three in return

Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored Friday against the Tigers.

Montgomery returned from a one-game absence due to a wrist injury. He delivered a bases-clearing double in the first inning and came around to score in the same frame. It was a needed performance for Montgomery, as he's hitting just .132 while striking out at a 44.4 percent clip across 53 at-bats in September.
