Nick Martinez SP | TB
Nick Martinez: Passes on mutual option
Martinez declined his part of a $20 mutual option for 2027 and is now a free agent, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Martinez will be given a $4 million buyout instead. The veteran right-hander turned 36 in August, but he could net a multi-year contract this offseason after posting a 3.10 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 109:26 K:BB over 180 innings covering 31 regular-season starts for the Rays in 2026.

Tsung-Che Cheng SS | BOS
Tigers' Tsung-Che Cheng: Headed to Detroit
Cheng was traded from the Red Sox to the Tigers in exchange for cash considerations Thursday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Cheng will head to Detroit ahead of the 2027 campaign. The 25-year-old produced a .256 average with a double, five RBI and seven runs scored over 39 at-bats in 14 regular-season contests with Boston in 2026. Cheng saw more action with Triple-A Worcester, batting .241 with eight home runs, 30 RBI, 52 runs scored and 10 stolen bases over 94 games with the WooSox. He will now look to compete for a major-league opportunity with the Tigers in 2027.

Kyren Paris LF | LAA
Mets' Kyren Paris: Claimed by Mets
Paris was claimed off waivers by the Mets on Thursday.
Paris was cut loose by the Angels, and he has now found a new home with New York. The 24-year-old spent the majority of the 2026 campaign with Triple-A Salt Lake, batting .307 with 13 home runs, 50 RBI, 42 runs scored and 16 stolen bases over 231 at-bats over 62 contests with the team. Paris went 0-for-15 with eight strikeouts and three walks over 18 plate appearances over eight regular-season contests with the Angels in 2026, and he'll look to earn a more prolonged major-league opportunity with the Mets in 2027.

Cristian Pache LF | NYM
Mets' Cristian Pache: Designated for assignment
Pache was designated for assignment by the Mets on Thursday.
Pache appeared in 15 contests with the Mets during the 2026 regular season, going 1-for-8 at the plate with two runs scored. The outfielder spent the majority of the year with Triple-A Syracuse, batting .235 with five home runs, 41 RBI, 43 runs scored and 16 stolen bases over 323 at-bats in 93 contests with the team. Pache was replaced on New York's 40-man roster by infieler Kyren Paris, who the team claimed off waivers from the Angels on Thursday.

Dustin May SP | MIL
Dustin May: Becomes free agent
May declined his mutual option with the Brewers on Thursday, becoming a free agent, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
May will hit the open market after helping deliver the Brewers a World Series championship over the Rays. The right-hander combined to produce a 4.70 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 144 strikeouts over 145.2 innings in 31 starts with the Cardinals and Brewers during the 2026 regular season.

Bo Bichette 3B | NYM
Mets' Bo Bichette: Exercises player option
Bichette exercised his $42 million player option for the 2027 season Thursday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Bichette's first year with the Mets didn't quite play out the way many had expected before the season began, as he posted just a .702 OPS across 696 plate appearances while adding 18 homers, 78 RBI and 76 runs for a team that finished last in the NL East. It was unlikely that he'd attract a more lucrative deal in free agency coming off one of the worst seasons of his career, so he'll opt in for another season as an everyday starter in Queens.

Ronald Acuna Jr. RF | ATL
Braves' Ronald Acuna: Club option exercised
Atlanta exercised Acuna's $17 million club option for the 2027 season Thursday.
Acuna has been playing on one of the most team-friendly contracts in baseball since 2019, and although his .255/.345/.451 regular-season slash line was a bit of a step back from 2025, Atlanta has no interest in parting with their franchise superstar early. The 28-year-old missed nearly seven weeks in the middle of the summer due to a hamstring strain and dealt with knee soreness during the postseason, but assuming he comes back fully healthy in 2027, he will remain among the top tier of fantasy performers.

Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Atlanta exercises option
Atlanta exercised Albies' $7 million club option for the 2027 season Thursday.
Albies finished the regular season with a career-low .237 batting average but still contributed 22 homers, 73 RBI and 85 runs while playing in every game for Atlanta. Unwilling to part with his reliability, the team will retain its longtime second baseman for his age-30 season, and he will likely remain in an everyday role while batting near the middle of the order.
