Jonathan Williams: Released from practice squad

The Lions cut Williams from the practice squad Tuesday.

The Lions have a deep group of running backs on the active roster, so Williams likely wouldn't be able to secure a role this season. Backfield injuries have piled up around the league, so Williams should be able to leverage last year's impressive stint with Indianapolis into a practice squad or even depth role elsewhere.
