Williams (ankle) underwent surgery on Thursday and is expected to need 12 weeks to recover, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The free agent cornerback was cut by the Browns before the beginning of the regular season after he failed to take the field the entirety of the preseason due to bone spurs in his ankle. The hope is that his successful surgery will put his ankle issues to rest, as he'll look to find his way onto a 53-man roster next season.
