  • Ed Oliver DT | BUF

Bills' Ed Oliver: Trending up but no return date

Oliver (biceps/knee) is trending in the right direction, but there is not a set date for his activation from injured reserve, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Coach Sean McDermott followed up Monday's declaration that Oliver would not be available for the wild-card round with a Wednesday status update. The defensive tackle continues to recover from his initial biceps issue suffered in late October, as well as the meniscus cleanup he had done in late December. If Oliver can return to practice next week, he may be available for a potential AFC divisional round match-up.

  • Matt Prater K | BUF

Bills' Matt Prater: Looking to practice Thursday

Prater (quadriceps) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Coach Sean McDermott says that Prater will not practice today but he plans for him to kick tomorrow, where they will have a better idea of his status for Sunday's playoff game against the Jaguars. The Bills recently signed kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad. If Prater's practice Thursday is insufficient, Wright will likely start Sunday's game.

  • Jordan Poyer FS | BUF

Bills' Jordan Poyer: Listed as limited Wednesday

Poyer (hamstring) will be listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice report, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Poyer closed out the regular season with back-to-back absences due to a hamstring injury, but Buffalo will hope to have the starting safety back in action for Sunday's wild-card round matchup on the road against Jacksonville. Cam Lewis will figure to handle an expanded role on defense versus the Jaguars in the event that Poyer can't go.

  • Matt Milano OLB | BUF

Bills' Matt Milano: Won't practice Wednesday

Milano (illness) will not practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Milano played in the Bills' last nine games consecutively before resting with most of the defensive starters in the team's Week 18 victory over the Jets. The linebacker appears to have acquired an illness, but it will likely not stop him from playing in Sunday's playoff game against the Jaguars. The 31-year-old will have two more opportunities to elevate his practice participation and prove he is over the illness in time for Sunday's contest.

  • DaQuan Jones DT | BUF

Bills' DaQuan Jones: Limited in practice Wednesday

Jones (calf) will be listed as limited on Wednesday's practice report, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Jones missed Buffalo's final two regular-season games due to a calf injury, but the veteran defensive tackle appears to be making progress in his recovery ahead of Sunday's wild-card round game against Jacksonville. If Jones isn't cleared to suit up on the road against the Jaguars, however, rookie second-rounder T.J. Sanders will stand to handle a starting role on defense again.

  • Terrel Bernard LB | BUF

Bills' Terrel Bernard: Will not practice Wednesday

Bernard (calf) will not participate in Wednesday's practice, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Bernard did not play in the Week 18 win over the Jets, but that is likely just because the Bills rested most of their starting players. The linebacker sustained his calf injury in the first half of the Week 17 loss to the Eagles and did not return to the contest. If the defensive captain wants to suit up for Sunday's playoff game against the Jaguars, he will have to increase his participation level in at least one of the remaining two practice sessions.

  • Shane Buechele: Rejoins Bills' practice squad

Buffalo signed Buechele to the practice squad Wednesday.

Buechele spent the majority of the 2025 regular season on the Bills' practice squad, and he now returns to the unit as Buffalo prepares to begin the postseason with a wild-card round matchup against Jacksonville on Sunday. Due to being poached by Kansas City late December, Buechele got an opportunity to play the second half of the Chiefs' regular-season finale against the Raiders in Week 18, in which he completed seven of 14 passes for 88 yards while rushing once for four yards. He served as Kansas City's backup quarterback for the final two games of the regular season.

  • Damar Hamlin SAF | BUF

Bills' Damar Hamlin: Designated to return from IR

The Bills designated Hamlin (pectoral) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.

Hamlin was placed on IR in early October after seeing just 12 defensive snaps in the first five weeks of the season. The reserve safety's 21-day practice window has now opened, meaning he could return any week during a potential deep playoff run for the Bills.

  • Bills' Jordan Phillips: Placed on IR

The Bills placed Phillips (ankle) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Phillips suffered an ankle injury Week 15 versus the Patriots and subsequently missed two games, but he managed to retake the field Week 18 against the Jets and play a season-high 39 percent of defensive snaps. Nonetheless, the veteran defensive tackle will now miss Buffalo's postseason run due to his placement on IR. With Phillips out, rookie second-rounder T.J. Sanders looks set for a larger role on defense, especially if DaQuan Jones (calf) isn't able to return in time for Sunday's wild-card round matchup against the Jaguars.

  • Lawrence Cager TE | WAS

Lawrence Cager: Signs future deal once again

The Commanders signed Cager to a reserve/future contract Wednesday.

Similar to January of last year, Cager has signed a deal that will allow him to stick with the Commanders during the offseason. The tight end logged just one offensive snap for the team this year in their Week 16 loss to the Eagles.
