Malkin (knee) completed the Penguins' full practice session Monday but is unlikely to play versus Ottawa on Friday after coach Mike Sullivan told reporters, "I don't think Geno would be ready that soon. But certainly, they're both making significant progress. The fact that they participated in a full capacity today suggests so," per Pens Inside Scoop.

Malkin has yet to get into a game for the Penguins this season but appears to be closing in on his season debut. Home games versus San Jose and St. Louis on Sunday and Wednesday could be a good opportunity for the Russian center to make his return. With a number of forwards entering the COVID-19 protocols Monday, Malkin could be deployed on the wing alongside Sidney Crosby.
