  • Jake Bean D | CGY

Flames' Jake Bean: Designated for IR

Bean (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Bean has reportedly been dealing with this undisclosed injury for much of the season, but the team wants to take the time to fully evaluate him and is deciding to shut him down. When healthy, the 27-year-old blueliner has appeared in 16 games this year, generating one goal and one assist. Given his low-end fantasy value, Bean's absence is unlikely to impact the majority of fantasy managers.

  • Flames' MacKenzie Weegar: Finds twine in loss

Weegar scored a goal on four shots and added two hits in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings.

Weegar has three points over his last seven games. While that's not great production overall, it's an improvement for the 31-year-old blueliner, who had an ice-cold first quarter of the campaign. He's at a mere seven points with 69 shots on net, 83 hits, 63 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a minus-21 rating through 32 appearances, though he has maintained an all-situations role.

  • Red Wings' Travis Hamonic: Still in part-time role

Hamonic played for the first time in five games in December when he logged three hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Flames.

Hamonic was in the lineup a majority of the time in November, but his role has shrunk in December. The 35-year-old has been sharing one spot in the lineup with Jacob Bernard-Docker, though both could play if Simon Edvinsson (lower body) misses any time after exiting Wednesday's contest. Hamonic has just one helper and a minus-11 rating through 17 appearances, though he's added 18 PIM, 18 hits and 24 blocked shots.

  • Cam York D | PHI

Flyers' Cam York: Won't play Thursday

York (upper body) will not be in the lineup versus the Golden Knights on Thursday, Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

York will be out of action for his third consecutive game due to his upper-body problem. The blueliner has gone 13 games without finding the back of the net, though he has registered five helpers and 14 shots over that stretch. With York continuing to miss out, Ty Murchison will remain on the third pairing heading into Thursday's tilt.

  • Red Wings' Axel Sandin-Pellikka: Lights lamp in win

Sandin-Pellikka scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Flames.

Sandin-Pellikka is on a four-game point streak (one goal, four assists). The 20-year-old defenseman had gone nearly a month between goals, with his last one being Nov. 13 versus the Ducks. For the season, he's up to three goals, 11 points, 33 shots on net, 31 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating while seeing steady time on the second pairing and second power-play unit.

  • Blackhawks' Matt Grzelcyk: Snaps slump with helper

Grzelcyk registered an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Rangers.

Grzelcyk had gone 13 games without a point entering Wednesday. The 31-year-old defenseman has largely disappointed to begin his Chicago tenure, earning a mere five assists in 30 contests just one year after his 40-point effort in 82 games for the Penguins. However, Grzelcyk could claim some extra time on the second power-play unit while Sam Rinzel is with AHL Rockford.

  • Blackhawks' Louis Crevier: Nets shorthanded goal

Crevier scored a shorthanded goal on three shots, added two PIM, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Rangers.

Crevier snapped his 10-game point drought with a surprising tally for a defenseman, as he got up on the rush while on the penalty kill. This was both his first shorthanded tally and first game-winning goal in his career. The 24-year-old already has a career-high 11 points with 39 shots on net, 40 hits, 21 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a plus-7 rating over 29 appearances. The Blackhawks are expected to utilize six defensemen for a while after starting the year with seven blueliners in the lineup frequently, so Crevier could see a bump in ice time from his 14:17 average so far.

  • Bruins' Charlie McAvoy: Game-time decision Thursday

McAvoy (face) will be a game-time decision in Winnipeg on Thursday, according to Jim McBride of The Boston Globe.

McAvoy is hoping to return after missing 11 games. He was injured Nov. 15 in Montreal when struck in the face by the puck. McAvoy has 14 assists in 19 games this season. Should McAvoy play, look for Jonathan Aspirot to head to the press box.

  • Wild's Matt Kiersted: Called up Thursday

Kiersted was recalled from AHL Iowa on Thursday.

Kiersted has seen minimal action in the NHL across the past few seasons, but he'll join Minnesota to provide additional depth while Jake Middleton (upper body) is on injured reserve. Kiersted has recorded three assists, 16 PIM and a minus-12 rating over 23 appearances with Iowa this year.

  • Wild's Jake Middleton: Placed on injured reserve

Middleton (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

Middleton suffered the injury Monday in Seattle in the third period and did not return. He has six assists, 35 PIM, 42 hits and 43 blocked shots across 28 appearances this season. The Wild realled Matt Kiersted from AHL Iowa in a corresponding move.
