  • Mammoth's Nick Schmaltz: Three points in Friday's win

Schmaltz scored a goal on two shots and added two assists in Friday's 5-3 win over the Kraken.

Schmaltz has two goals and five helpers over seven outings in December. The 29-year-old forward stole the puck and scored Utah's first goal at 8:09 of the second period in this contest, and he added helpers on Dylan Guenther's power-play tally and Lawson Crouse's empty-netter in the third. Schmaltz is up to 12 goals, 29 points, 75 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 33 appearances this season. He's tracking toward a career year in goals and points.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Earns win over Kraken

Vejmelka stopped 33 of 36 shots in Friday's 5-3 win over the Kraken.

This was a close game most of the time, leaving Vejmelka little margin for error. He allowed two goals to Mason Marchment and one to Ben Meyers after the Mammoth had put away two empty-netters. This ended a two-game skid for Vejmelka, though he has allowed 10 goals on 98 shots over his last three outings. Overall, he's at a 13-9-2 record with a 2.73 GAA and an .895 save percentage through 25 outings. The Mammoth begin a three-game road trip in Pittsburgh on Sunday, and that trip ends with a back-to-back in Boston on Tuesday and Detroit on Wednesday. Expect Vejmelka to start two of Utah's next three games.

  • Wyatt Kaiser D | CHI

Blackhawks' Wyatt Kaiser: Scores in Friday's loss

Kaiser scored a goal on three shots in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Blues.

Kaiser has two goals over his last five games, which are his only tallies this season. The defenseman is up to six points, 31 shots on net, 29 blocked shots, 20 hits, 16 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 31 appearances. He's seeing steady ice time in a third-pairing role, but he has limited upside in fantasy since he doesn't tend to get involved much on offense.

  • Blackhawks' Andre Burakovsky: One of each in loss

Burakovsky scored a goal and added an assist in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Blues.

Burakovsky set up Wyatt Kaiser's goal in the first period before scoring one of his own in the third. The goal was Burakovsky's first since Nov. 9 versus the Red Wings, a span of 10 games without a goal in which he racked up five assists. The 30-year-old winger is at eight tallies, 13 helpers, 34 shots on net and a plus-3 rating through 26 appearances. He's been in a top-line role lately, but Connor Bedard (shoulder) will be out for at least Saturday's game versus Detroit, which will negatively impact Burakovsky's production as well.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Stuck with loss against Blues

Knight allowed three goals on 26 shots in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Blues.

Knight continues to alternate between wins and losses, which is better than the skid he had near the end of November. A pair of first-period tallies and Justin Faulk's decisive goal in the second sunk Knight in this contest. He's down to a 10-7-5 record with a 2.52 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 22 outings this season. The Blackhawks are back in action at home Saturday versus the Red Wings, which is likely to be a start for Arvid Soderblom.

  • Tyler Tucker D | STL

Blues' Tyler Tucker: Gets on scoresheet with helper

Tucker notched an assist in Friday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Tucker snapped a 19-game point drought when he set up Justin Faulk's second-period tally, which stood as the game-winner. The 25-year-old Tucker has been an occasional scratch this season, but he seems to have a bit more security in the lineup than Logan Mailloux and Matt Kessel. Tucker is at five points, 25 shots on net, 33 hits, 20 blocked shots, 39 PIM and a minus-6 rating over 29 appearances in a bottom-four role.

  • Blues' Robert Thomas: Dishes pair of helpers

Thomas logged two assists in Friday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Thomas has three goals and three helpers during a four-game point streak. The 26-year-old is up to 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) with 42 shots on net, 17 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 29 appearances this season. He continues to be a strong playmaker in a top-line role, but he's behind the pace he'd need to reach the 80-point mark for the third straight campaign.

  • Matt Luff RW | STL

Blues' Matt Luff: Finds twine in win

Luff scored a goal and added three hits in Friday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Luff has played in three of the Blues' last four games while filling in on the fourth line. His tally Friday was his first NHL point since the 2022-23 campaign with the Red Wings. The 28-year-old winger has added three shots on net, six hits, four blocked shots and a minus-2 rating. With multiple forwards out for the next two weeks at a minimum, Luff has a decent chance of staying on the NHL roster through the holiday break.

  • Blues' Logan Mailloux: Goal, fight in win

Mailloux scored a goal on two shots and added five PIM in Friday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Mailloux had a busy first period, scoring at 3:41 of the frame before fighting Colton Dach later on. The 22-year-old Mailloux's tally was his first goal as a Blue. He's seen limited usage on the third pairing this season, picking up two points, 21 shots on net, 27 hits, 14 blocked shots, 17 PIM and a minus-17 rating through 20 appearances.

  • Justin Faulk D | STL

Blues' Justin Faulk: Tallies in Friday's win

Faulk scored a goal on two shots and blocked four shots in Friday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Faulk has a goal and two assists over his last four games. For the season, the 33-year-old defenseman has provided some all-around stability in a top-four role for the Blues. He's at seven goals, 16 points, 62 shots on net, 66 blocked shots, 29 hits and a minus-4 rating over 33 appearances. Faulk has reached the 15-goal mark in four previous seasons, most recently when he potted 16 in 2021-22.
