Danton Heinen C | PIT
Penguins' Danton Heinen: Puts away goal
Heinen scored a goal on three shots, added four hits and logged two PIM in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Oilers.
Heinen picked up his first goal of the season and his first point in three games during his current NHL stint. Overall, the 30-year-old has collected two points, 13 shots on net, 14 hits, nine blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-2 rating over 12 NHL appearances this season. He is likely to see most of his ice time in a fourth-line role.

Matthew Savoie C | EDM
Oilers' Matt Savoie: Nets goal in Tuesday's win
Savoie scored a goal and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Penguins.
Savoie has four goals and a helper over his last seven games. A steady spot on the second line at even strength has helped him stay productive, and he's also on the second power-play unit. The 21-year-old rookie has a total of 12 points, 50 shots and a plus-2 rating over 34 appearances this season. Savoie's worth a look in a deeper leagues that prioritize offense, but he doesn't offer much non-scoring production.

Vasily Podkolzin RW | EDM
Oilers' Vasily Podkolzin: Tickles twine in win
Podkolzin scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Penguins.
Podkolzin has been strong in December with five goals and an assist over eight games this month. It's already his most productive month of the season, which has seen him rack up nine goals, 16 points, 55 shots on net, 102 hits, 11 PIM and a plus-13 rating through 34 outings overall. Podkolzin has earned his place on the second line with Leon Draisaitl, and that's an assignment that will likely keep the 24-year-old winger productive more often than not.

Colten Ellis G | BUF
Sabres' Colten Ellis: To be reevaluated Friday
Ellis (concussion) will be reevaluated Friday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
It's still unclear when Ellis will return to the lineup, and he remains on injured reserve for now. With the Sabres carrying three netminders, it's hard to trust any of Ellis, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen or Alex Lyon to get enough work to offer significant fantasy value. However, that could change once Ellis is healthy, as the team could make changes to the crease situation.

Evan Bouchard D | EDM
Oilers' Evan Bouchard: One of each in win
Bouchard scored a goal and added an assist, both on the power play, in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Penguins.
Bouchard has two goals and eight assists over eight games in December, with five of those 10 points coming on the power play. The 26-year-old's point production has been solid since late October after an ice-cold start to the campaign. He's now at six goals, 32 points (11 on the power play), 86 shots on net, 44 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 34 appearances. With the Oilers making their annual December turnaround, Bouchard should be a top-tier defenseman for the remainder of the fantasy campaign.

Jaroslav Chmelar RW | NYR
Rangers' Jaroslav Chmelar: Demoted to minors
Chmelar was sent down to AHL Hartford on Wednesday.
Chmelar has appeared in six games for the Rangers this season, in which he has failed to generate any points while posting 13 hits, three shots and seven PIM. The Rangers also returned Brett Berard to the minors, while bringing up Brennan Othmann and Gabe Perreault in corresponding moves.

Conor Garland RW | VAN
Canucks' Conor Garland: Fills empty cage
Garland scored a shorthanded empty-net goal on three shots in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Rangers.
Garland has four points over his last three games, and all of that production has come in special-teams situations. Prior to this stretch, he had earned just two even-strength points in an eight-game span that also saw him miss three contests due to injuries. For the season, the veteran winger has seven goals, 19 points, 68 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 27 appearances. He remains on track to top the 50-point mark for the third time in his career.

Evander Kane LW | VAN
Canucks' Evander Kane: Scores early Tuesday
Kane scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Rangers.
Kane had been limited to one helper over his previous five appearances. The 34-year-old's goal at 1:46 of the first period was ultimately all the Canucks needed in this victory. The winger has six goals, 16 points, 80 shots on net, 57 hits, 44 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 32 appearances this season. Kane should continue to see middle-six usage for now, though he may get a bump in ice time once Elias Pettersson (upper body) returns if that leads to a shuffle in the lineup.
-
Brett Berard LW | NYR
Rangers' Brett Berard: Sent down to minors
Berard was assigned to AHL Hartford on Wednesday.
Berard has been with the Rangers since late November, and he logged consistent time in the lineup. He appeared in 11 games and was held without a point while posting 15 hits, nine blocked shots and six PIM. The 23-year-old should have ample opportunities to contribute in the minors. The Rangers also sent down Jaroslav Chmelar on Wednesday, while bringing up Brennan Othmann and Gabe Perreault.
-
Gabe Perreault RW | NYR
Rangers' Gabe Perreault: Called up Wednesday
Perreault was recalled from AHL Hartford on Wednesday.
Perreault has made three appearances for the Rangers this year, recording an assist, four blocked shots and a hit while averaging 13:09 of ice time. He's been efficient in the minors, racking up 10 goals, seven assists, 14 PIM and a plus-5 rating over 20 appearances with the Wolf Pack, and he'll provide additional depth for the Rangers after Brett Berard and Jaroslav Chmelar returned to Hartford on Wednesday.
