  • Kaapo Kakko RW | SEA

Kraken's Kaapo Kakko: Buries power-play goal

Kakko scored a power-play goal on two shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Flames.

Kakko scored late in the second period to put Seattle ahead 2-1, but the lead didn't last. The winger's goal was his first in nine games since he returned from a lower-body injury that cost him six contests. For the season, he's struggled to find a rhythm due to various injuries, which have limited him to five points, 23 shots on net and a minus-2 rating over 16 appearances. Kakko is currently in a middle-six role and is unlikely to have a scoring breakout unless he finds his way back to the top line.

  • Kraken's Chandler Stephenson: Riding seven-game point streak

Stephenson scored a goal and added two PIM in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Flames.

Stephenson has scored in three straight games, and he's collected four goals and three helpers during a seven-game point streak. His tally Thursday opened the scoring at 7:52 of the second period. The 31-year-old center is up to eight goals, 19 points, 53 shots on net, 25 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating over 32 appearances. He's in his best stretch of the season and is worth a look as a streaming option until he cools off.

  • Joey Daccord G | SEA

Kraken's Joey Daccord: Faces barrage in loss

Daccord allowed three goals on 45 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Flames. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

The Kraken haven't been this loose defensively for most of the season, but this was a bad performance for the skaters in front of Daccord. The 29-year-old netminder did what he could to keep it close, but the Flames' pressure was ultimately too much in the third period. Daccord dropped to 8-9-4 with a 2.90 GAA and an .897 save percentage over 21 starts this season. The Kraken's next game is Saturday in San Jose, beginning a stretch of three games in four days. If the Kraken continue to alternate goalies, Daccord would be lined up for Monday's contest in Anaheim during that stretch.

  • Flames' Rasmus Andersson: Dishes three assists in win

Andersson recorded three assists, three shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Kraken.

Andersson picked up his second multi-point outing of the month by setting up the Flames' first three goals. The 29-year-old defenseman is having a strong bounce-back campaign, earning 25 points (seven goals, 18 helpers) over 35 contests. He's added 90 shots on net, 67 blocked shots, 38 PIM and a plus-3 rating while occupying a top-four role with power-play time.

  • Flames' Matthew Coronato: Nets go-ahead goal

Coronato scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Kraken.

Coronato put the Flames ahead 3-2 at 11:19 of the third period, and that tally stood as the game-winner, his second such goal this season. The winger has three goals and three helpers over his last seven outings while seeing top-six minutes in that span. For the season, he's produced 11 goals, 20 points, 95 shots on net and a minus-18 rating across 34 appearances.

  • Nazem Kadri C | CGY

Flames' Nazem Kadri: One of each Thursday

Kadri scored a power-play goal on five shots and added an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Kraken.

Kadri tied the game at 2-2 midway through the third period, then set up a Mikael Backlund empty-netter late in the frame. The 35-year-old Kadri has been excellent in December with three goals and seven helpers over eight contests. He's up to eight goals, 31 points (11 on the power play), 113 shots on net, 23 hits, 18 PIM and a minus-9 rating through 35 outings overall.

  • Flames' Mikael Backlund: Nets two goals in win

Backlund scored twice on four shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Kraken.

Backlund tied the game at 1-1 in the second period and added an empty-netter late in the third. The 36-year-old earned his first multi-point effort since Nov. 23 versus the Canucks. He's earned four points over eight games this month, right in line with his seven goals and 18 points over 35 appearances on the year. Backlund also has 75 shots on net, 16 hits, 12 blocked shots and a plus-12 rating.

  • Dustin Wolf G | CGY

Flames' Dustin Wolf: Back in win column

Wolf stopped 21 of 23 shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Kraken.

Wolf didn't let a five-goal meltdown versus the Sharks on Tuesday turn into a slump. He allowed a pair of goals in the second period, but the Flames' strong third helped Wolf earn his fifth win in his last six outings. He's now 11-13-2 with a 2.92 GAA and an .896 save percentage in 27 appearances this season. The American netminder is in line for a tougher challenge should he start Saturday at home against the Golden Knights.

  • Lightning's Oliver Bjorkstrand: Nets team's lone goal in loss

Bjorkstrand scored a power-play goal Thursday in a 2-1 loss to the Kings.

Bjorkstrand opened the scoring in the first period when Anthony Cirelli found him open in the low spot. Bjorkstrand tried a jam play, which Anton Forsberg stopped, but the rebound was there for the taking. Bjorkstrand saw daylight five-hole, and he made no mistake. He has six points (three goals, three assists) and 11 shots in his last five games. Three of those points, including two goals, came on the power play, signaling that he could be heating up. Bjorkstrand was supposed to bring solid veteran offense to the Bolts, but he has struggled to bring that part of his game to the Sunshine State. He has just five goals, 10 assists and 58 shots this season (34 games).

  • Blues' Jonatan Berggren: First goal with new team

Berggren scored a goal in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Rangers.

This was Berggren's second game with the Blues since he was plucked off waivers from the Red Wings. He's immediately stepped into a third-line role, and with a goal and four shots over two contests, he could stick in the lineup for a while. Prior to being waived, he was scratched for 19 of 34 contests with Detroit. Berggren has put up three goals, four helpers, 24 shots, 11 hits and a minus-2 rating over 17 appearances this season.
