Markstrom will guard the road goal versus the Mammoth on Friday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Markstrom has fallen into a timeshare with Jake Allen recently. The 35-year-old Markstrom has gone just 1-4-0 with 18 goals allowed over his last six outings, which is right in line with his poor performance this season. The Mammoth have won three of their last four games, scoring 15 goals in that span.

Kerfoot (abdomen) was activated from injured reserve Friday.

Kerfoot is clear to be in the lineup versus the Devils on Friday. He'll likely take on a bottom-six role moving forward, though he may not be in the lineup every game.

Hellebuyck was the first goalie off the ice during Friday's morning skate, indicating he'll be between the road pipes versus the Avalanche, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.

Hellebuyck has allowed just five goals on 82 shots since returning from arthroscopic knee surgery. However, the Jets' poor offense in that span has limited him to a 1-1-1 record. Friday's matchup is a rough one, as the Avalanche have the best offense in the NHL by a wide margin, which make this a challenging situation for Hellebuyck.

Barzal (undisclosed) is expected to be in the lineup Friday versus the Canucks, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Barzal was labeled a game-time decision for the second contest in a row, but it looks like he'll be good to go again. The 28-year-old is clearly managing some sort of issue, but it hasn't been bad enough to keep him out of games yet.

Bussi will guard the road goal versus the Panthers on Friday, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports.

Bussi has won nine straight outings and 11 out of 12 appearances this season. He's allowed no more than three goals in any of his last seven outings. The Panthers have found a groove recently, scoring 22 goals over their last six games while going 5-1-0 in that span.

Trineyev was loaned to AHL Hershey on Friday.

Trineyev spent the last two weeks with the Capitals and made his first two NHL appearances during that time. He was held without a point but recorded two blocked shots and a hit while averaging 10:32 of ice time. He should see more consistent playing time in the minors, while Ivan Miroshnichenko was recalled from the AHL on Friday.

Miroshnichenko was recalled from AHL Hershey on Friday.

Miroshnichenko signed a two-year extension with the Capitals in October, but he hasn't yet appeared in a game with the NHL club this year. However, he's recorded four goals, five assists, 21 PIM and a minus-1 rating over 12 appearances in the AHL this year, and he'll provide additional depth for the Capitals after Bogdan Trineyev was sent down Friday.

Barkey was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Friday.

Barkey hasn't yet made his NHL debut, but he's recorded seven goals, nine assists, 20 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 26 appearances to begin his first season in the AHL. He'll join the Flyers ahead of the holiday break to provide additional depth after defenseman Egor Zamula was sent down Friday.

Erne (lower body) will be in action versus the Ducks on Friday, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.

Erne will suit up for the first time since Nov. 11 versus the Senators, a stretch of 18 games on long-term injured reserve due to his lower-body problem. Prior to getting hurt, the 30-year-old winger notched two goals and one assist in 14 outings. With Erne back in action, Colin Blackwell will serve as a healthy scratch Friday.

DeSmith will start Friday's road game against Anaheim, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.

DeSmith will draw the start in the second half of a back-to-back set after Jake Oettinger tended the road twine in Thursday's win over San Jose. DeSmith has picked up wins in four of his last five starts, going 4-0-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .932 save percentage during that time. The Ducks have been a formidable opponent this year, as they rank second in the NHL with 3.44 goals per game.
