Blue Jays infielder Edwin Encarnacion continued show his power at the plate, homering twice during Friday's contest against the Yankees. Encarnacion has homered for the fourth straight game and has five long balls over that span.
Encarnacion took starter Ivan Nova deep in the second for a solo home run and reliever David Phelps for another solo shot in the sixth. He finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI in a 6-4 defeat. It was his first multi-home run game since July 14.
Encarnacion has gone 5 for 14 with five homers, five runs scored and eight RBI in his last four games. He is hitting .225 with seven home runs and 16 RBI in 89 at-bats.
