  • Cardinals' Josh Zeid: Agrees to minors deal with Cardinals

    Zeid signed a minor league contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

    Zeid is coming back from the WBC, where he impressed for Team Israel, notching 10 scoreless innings while striking out 10 and earning two saves in four appearances. The 29-year-old posted a combined 4.61 ERA across 91.2 innings between Triple-A Las Vegas and Double-A Binghamton last season. He'll likely serve as organizational depth in 2017.

  • Josh Zeid: Tosses four innings for Israel in loss

    Zeid pitched four scoreless innings in Team Israel's 8-3 loss to Japan in the World Baseball Classic on Wednesday, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out three.

    Israel was one of the surprise teams of the World Baseball Classic, winning its first four games of the tournament before bowing out in the second round Wednesday. Zeid, who split time with Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas in the Mets organization last season, gave Israel some quality innings before the Japan bats woke up for a five-run sixth inning. Now that his obligations to Israel have concluded, look for the 29-year-old Zeid to try and land a minor-league contract from a team.

  • Mets' Josh Zeid: Signs minor league contract with Mets on Thursday

    Zeid signed a minor league contract with the Mets on Thursday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

    Zeid was a member of the Angels organization during spring training, but was released by them prior to the regular season. Although he does have major league experience from his time with the Astros in 2013 and 2014, he'll now join the Mets' Double-A affiliate in Binghamton and will likely act as organizational depth going forward.

  • Angels' Josh Zeid: Signs minor league deal Friday

    Zeid signed a minor league deal with the Angels on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

    Zeid had been outrighted to Triple-A in September before becoming a free agent. The 28-year-old reliever posted a 4.46 ERA in 70.2 innings of work for Triple-A Toledo in 2015. He had some control issues (5.00 BB/9) that will need to be sorted out if he wants to get another shot in the major leagues.
