    Jordan (elbow) was released by the Nationals on Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.

    The Nationals needed a 40-man spot for top prospect Lucas Giolito, who was called up to make his MLB debut Tuesday against the Mets. Jordan had Tommy John surgery in late May, ruling him out for the rest of the season while also putting his 2017 availability into questions.

  • Nationals' Taylor Jordan: Underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday

    Jordan had Tommy John surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews done on Thursday,William Ladson of MLB.com reports.

    This is now the second time Jordan has had to undergo this procedure. He was placed on the 7-day DL in Triple-A Syracuse on April 21 for an undisclosed reason. Unfortunately, that reason turned out to be a shoulder injury in need of surgery. There is currently no timetable for a return, but his 2016 season has come to an untimely end.

  • Nationals' Taylor Jordan: Placed on Triple-A DL

    Jordan was placed on the 7-day DL at Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, Kevin Brown of ESPN reports.

    The reason for the DL placement is unknown at this time, but Jordan will miss at least a week. the 27-year-old, who made four appearances for the Nats last season, is off to a strong start at Syracuse this season, holding a 1.72 ERA while allowing just three earned runs across 15.2 innings, despite conceding 16 hits.

    Jordan was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.

    Jordan's lone appearance this spring did not go particularly well as he allowed three runs on three hits in just one inning of work. He'll join Wilmer Difo and Matt Grace among players optioned down to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.
