Tigers' Domonic Ficociello: Moved to DL
Ficociello was placed on the disabled list Thursday with an oblique injury, Tom Reisenweber of the Erie Times-News reports.
Ficociello will spend some time on the shelf after compiling a .267/.348/.395 slash line with seven homers and 45 RBI over 70 games at Double-A Erie this season. While the severity of the issue is unknown, he'll likely miss more than the minimum given the location of the injury.

Tigers' Domonic Ficociello: Reassigned to minors camp
The Tigers reassigned Ficociello to their minor-league camp Sunday.
One of several non-roster players invited to major-league spring training, Ficociello was never viewed as a serious candidate to win a utility role with the big club. After going 2-for-9 at the dish across seven spring appearances, the 25-year-old switch hitter will likely report to Triple-A Toledo to begin the 2018 campaign.

Tigers' Domonic Ficociello: Doing ok after injuring finger
Ficociello had a finger pop out of its socket during Thursday's matchup with Florida Southern, but he's doing fine, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
It's unclear what the cause of the issue was. Considering it was the first game of the spring, it comes as no surprise that he was instantly removed from the game following the incident. It seems like he'll be fine moving forward, although it'll be worth monitoring over the course of spring training in case the finger continues to cause him problems. Ficociello is looking to build off his 2017 campaign in which he produced an .824 OPS at Double-A Erie and earned his first promotion to Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers' Domonic Ficociello: Heads to Triple-A
Ficociello was called up to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Tom Reisenweber of the Erie Times-News reports.
Ficociello had spent the first 89 games of the season with Double-A Erie this year, hitting .308/.378/.448 with seven home runs and 39 RBI. The shortstop worked his way through the Double-A level since the middle of the 2015 season, and is ready to test his skills at Toledo. Ficociello is able to play myriad positions defensively, and will look to make it to the Tigers by the end of next season.

Tigers' Domonic Ficociello: Reassigned to minor league camp
Ficociello was reassigned to minor league camp on Sunday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
The 24-year-old has made an impact this spring, as he is tied for the team lead with four home runs, though he is batting just .229 with a .288 on-base percentage. Ficociello could use some time at Triple-A after spending all of 2016 with Double-A Erie. The organization likes his defensive versatility, and he's a player worth watching if or when he makes it to the majors.

Ficociello said he wants to be known as a player who can play multiple positions, the Detroit News reports.
Ficociello was compared to Ben Zobrist, though it's obviously too early to know whether he'll hit like Zobrist at the MLB level. Ficociello will likely start the season at Triple-A Toledo, and he could play either corner infield or outfield spot, as well as second base in a pinch. "Wherever they need me to fill in at a spot, I can do it," Ficociello said. "Not just first base. Third base, left field, right field, second base -- in an emergency situation -- I could do that type of thing. It's a role I can see myself taking on."

Tigers' Domonic Ficociello: Scores run and strikes out once
Ficociello scored a run and struck out once in Double-A Erie's Season Opener against Trenton on Thursday.
Ficociello had a moderately productive spring as he went 7-for-27 along with three RBI and a run. However, with only 159 Double-A at-bats under his belt, the 23-year-old first basemen will likely spend 2016 developing his skills at that level and could receive a promotion to Triple-A Toledo this year if he performs well.
