Jacob Hannemann: Let go by Cubs
Hannemann was released by the Cubs on Friday.
Hannemann spent the season with Triple-A Iowa, posting an uninspiring .248/.333/.453 slash line, good for just an 89 wRC+. He doesn't seem to be a particularly good bet to make a big-league impact any time soon, as he owns a .249/.312/.380 slash line in 240 career Triple-A contests.

Cubs' Jacob Hannemann: Heads to minor-league camp
The Cubs assigned Hannemann to their minor-league camp Saturday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
After making 11 appearances at the big-league level for Seattle in 2017, Hannemann played exclusively at Iowa in 2018, slashing .238/.297/.340 across 413 plate appearances. That underwhelming production combined with the lack of a 40-man roster spot make it unlikely that Hannemann surfaces for the big club in 2019.

Cubs' Jacob Hannemann: Headed to minor-league camp
Hannemann was assigned to minor-league camp Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Hannemann appeared in 16 games this spring, struggling to a bleak .083/.267/.125 line. He'll likely report to Triple-A Iowa when the upcoming season begins. Over 80 games with Iowa in 2017, Hannemann hit .265 with a .728 OPS.

Cubs' Jacob Hannemann: Assigned to Triple-A
Hannemann cleared waivers Monday and was assigned to Triple-A Iowa.
The Cubs acquired Hannemann off waivers at the latter end of October. Hannemann played 80 games with Iowa during the 2017 campaign. Over those outings, he hit .265 with a .728 OPS.

Cubs' Jacob Hannemann: Claimed off waivers by Cubs
Hannemann was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Thursday.
Hannemann played 11 big-league games with the Mariners in 2017, going just 3-for-20 with one home run and one RBI during his limited opportunity. The 26-year-old didn't provide much promise with Triple-A Tacoma this past year either, slashing .240/.312/.372 with six home runs and 32 RBI in 112 games, although he did manage to rack up 29 stolen bases on 35 attempts. Moving forward, he will provide a little more outfield depth within the Cubs' organization.

Mariners' Jacob Hannemann: Joins big-league club
Hannemann joined the Mariners on Tuesday.
A waiver acquisition from the Cubs, Hannemann reported right away to Seattle for his first major-league opportunity. His .265/.324/.404 line with Triple-A Iowa this season leaves a lot to be desired, but Hannemann can provide versatility in the outfield as well as speed off the bench (29-for-35 on the basepaths this season).

Mariners' Jacob Hannemann: Claimed by Seattle
Hannemann was claimed off waivers by the Mariners on Monday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Hannemann was designated for assignment by the Cubs after slashing a combined .240/.312/.372 in 113 games between Triple-A Iowa and Double-A Tennessee. The 26-year-old will likely report to Triple-A Tacoma with his new organization.

Cubs' Jacob Hannemann: On shelf at Double-A
Hannemann is sidelined at Double-A Tennessee with a knee injury, MLB.com's Jim Callis reports.
The 25-year-old outfield prospect has an impressive power/speed combo, but his below-average hit tool will likely prevent him from becoming a big-league regular. He has 186 games under his belt at Double-A, so the fact that he will return to the Southern League when healthy is clearly not a good sign.

Cubs' Jacob Hannemann: Added to 40-man roster
Hannemann was added to Chicago's 40-man roster on Friday.
Hannemann has averaged 29 steals per season over the last three years, but posted a .247/.326/.426 line with Double-A Tennessee despite being a year older than league average. He could have a place as center field depth capable of pinch-running, but he remains a good distance from contributing in the majors.

Cubs' Jacob Hannemann: Steals two more bases Saturday
Hannemann went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases for Double-A Tennessee on Saturday.
Last year Hannemann had 17 stolen bases and a 32:113 BB:K for the Smokies, but this year he already has four steals and has improved his BB:K ratio to 10:19. It wouldn't be surprising to see him in Chicago in September as a pinch runner.
