  • Marlins' Luis Marte: DFA'd by Miami

Marte was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old also lost his spot on the 40-man roster in early June, though he had his contract selected June 19 and has since been in the majors. Marte has made only four appearances in two stints with Miami this year, going 1-for-6 with a walk and two runs.

  • Marlins' Luis Marte: Returns to major-league roster

Marte's contract was selected by the Marlins on Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Marte was outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville on June 6, and he went 1-for-18 with a run, three stolen bases and seven strikeouts across his last five minor-league games. He'll now rejoin the major-league roster and should serve in a depth role after Deven Marrero was designated for assignment Saturday.

  • Marlins' Luis Marte: Heads to Triple-A

The Marlins outrighted Marte to Triple-A Jacksonville after he cleared waivers Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

A 27-year-old utility infielder with three career MLB plate appearances to his name, Marte unsurprisingly didn't attract much attention on the waiver wire after the Marlins booted him off their 40-man roster Thursday. He'll remain in the Marlins organization as a depth piece at Triple-A.

  • Marlins' Luis Marte: Loses 40-man spot

The Marlins designated Marte for assignment Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Marte was the casualty from the 40-man roster with the Marlins needing to open up a spot for their starting pitcher Thursday against the Pirates, Elieser Hernandez (biceps). The 27-year-old infielder appeared in one game during his first stint in the big leagues, going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

  • Marlins' Luis Marte: Set for major-league debut

Marte will make his major-league debut Sunday against the Red Sox, batting ninth and playing second base, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports.

Marte was called up to the big leagues Thursday but has not appeared in the series against the Red Sox to this point. He will get his shot Sunday, filling in for the injured Jazz Chisholm (ankle) at second base.

  • Marlins' Luis Marte: Called up by Marlins

Marte's contract was selected by the Marlins on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Marte has spent parts of the last four seasons at the Triple-A level, but he'll be in line to make his major-league debut in the near future. In 18 games with Triple-A Jacksonville to begin the 2021 campaign, Marte hit .263 with three home runs, 11 RBI and six runs scored. The 27-year-old should mainly serve as a depth option but could see some at-bats with Miguel Rojas (finger) expected to miss time.
