  • Braves' Madison Younginer: Records first save of season

Younginer recorded his first save of the season Friday, giving up a hit, in a 4-2 win over Triple-A Norfolk.

Younginer pitched 3.1 scoreless innings this spring, giving up a walk and striking out two. The 6-4 righty is coming off his best minor league season, as he posted an 8-4 record, 3.03 ERA, and 1.177 WHIP over 77.1 innings last year between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket. This will be the first year that he is expected to spend an extended period of time at the Triple-A level, so he may remain there all season. However, if he performs well in the closer role, a promotion to the majors is not out of the question.
