Diamondbacks' Wilderd Patino: Running wild in 2022
Patino was recently promoted to High-A Hillsboro after hitting .294 with eight homers and 54 steals for Single-A Visalia, and he's hit .267/.333/.433 with a homer and four steals across his first eight games at the new level.
A lot of people were out on Patino after he struck out at a brutal 37.1 percent clip alongside a .582 OPS over 30 games with Visalia last year. However, he improved by leaps and bounds while repeating the level this year, posting an .821 OPS while trimming his strikeout rate to an acceptable 24.6 percent and running wild on the bases. Still just 20 years old, Patino has promising pop to go with his excellent speed, and he seems to be making strides in his development.

Diamondbacks' Wilderd Patino: Returns to Low-A lineup
Patino (quadriceps) has gone 4-for-16 with two runs and a stolen base in his four games since returning from Low-A Visalia's 7-day injured list Wednesday.
Patino had been sidelined since May 18 with the quad injury. The 20-year-old outfielder has appeared in just 13 games for Visalia this season, batting .167 with a 45.8 percent strikeout rate.

Diamondbacks' Wilderd Patino: Cleared for rehab assignment
Patino (quadriceps) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Aug. 9 and has gone 0-for-5 with a run scored in his first two games with the affiliate.
Patino looks to be nearing a return to full health from a quadriceps strain that has kept him on the injured list since May 19. Since he's been on the shelf for nearly three months, Patino may require a few more games in the ACL before Visalia feels comfortable reinstating him.

Diamondbacks' Wilderd Patino: Nursing quad strain
Patino has not played since May 18 due to a quad strain, Bill Mitchell of Baseball America reports.
It's been a disastrous season for Patino, who was a preseason breakout candidate. He hit .143 with 21 strikeouts and two walks in 10 games with Low-A Visalia prior to suffering the injury. Patino still has impressive physical tools, but he is missing valuable developmental time, and the fact that he is 20 years old and struggled so much in his first taste of full-season ball makes him a drop candidate in most dynasty leagues.

Diamondbacks' Wilderd Patino: Sidelined with injury
Low-A Visalia placed Patino on the 7-day injured list May 19 with an unspecified issue.
No reports have emerged regarding the nature of the injury that has kept Patino on the shelf for more than a month. A 19-year-old center fielder from Venezuela, Patino was slashing .143/.217/.262 across 46 plate appearances through his first 10 games in full-season ball before landing on the IL.
