  • Nationals' Joey Wiemer: Claimed by Nationals

The Nationals claimed Wiemer off waivers from the Giants on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. It's the third organization Wiemer has been in since November and fourth since August. The 26-year-old slashed .236/.279/.436 with a 2:23 BB:K over 27 contests for the Marlins in 2025. Wiemer is out of minor-league options, so he should have a good chance to make the Nationals' Opening Day roster in a reserve role.

  • Giants' Joey Wiemer: DFA'd by Giants

The Giants designated Wiemer for assignment Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. After being DFA'd by the Marlins in November and landing in San Francisco via trade, Wiemer will now go through the waiver process for the second time in as many months. His subtraction from the 40-man roster will create room for Jason Foley, who signed with the Giants on Tuesday.

  • Giants' Joey Wiemer: Lands in San Francisco

The Giants acquired Wiemer from the Marlins on Friday in exchange for cash considerations, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Wiemer had been designated for assignment by Miami earlier this week and is now on the move to a new organization. The 26-year-old hasn't seen extensive action in the majors since his rookie year in 2023, having bounced around to a few teams since then. Wiemer will compete for a spot on the Giants' roster and does not have minor-league options remaining.

  • Marlins' Joey Wiemer: DFA'd by Miami

The Marlins designated Weimer for assignment Tuesday. The 26-year-old had a .715 OPS in 27 games for Miami in 2025 but will lose his place on the 40-man roster in order to create roster space ahead of the Rule 5 Draft. Weimer could be outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville or elect to refuse the assignment and become a free agent.

  • Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Back up with big club

The Marlins recalled Wiemer from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. Wiemer was just sent down Monday, but he's back to absorb the roster spot vacated by the injured Dane Myers (knee). The 26-year-old Wiemer could see some action in the outfield versus lefties in the final days of the season.

  • Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Loses spot on active roster

The Marlins optioned Wiemer to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. Wiemer will give up his spot on the 28-man active roster to outfielder Griffin Conine (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. After being recalled from Jacksonville on Aug. 17, Wiemer was used primarily as a short-side platoon outfielder and late-inning defensive replacement. He produced a .250/.293/.462 slash line with three home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs over 58 plate appearances.

  • Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Pops first homer of 2025

Wiemer went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Nationals. The 26-year-old outfielder took Mitchell Parker deep in the fifth inning, giving Wiemer his first homer in the majors this season. Through eight games since joining the Marlins' roster, he's batting .259 (7-for-27) with six RBI, but a 0:14 BB:K offers little reassurance that he'll remain productive.

  • Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Called up, starting Sunday

The Marlins recalled Wiemer from Triple-A Jacksonville, and he'll start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Miami brought Wiemer aboard as a replacement for Kyle Stowers (oblique), who was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. With Stowers expected to miss several weeks while recovering from a Grade 1 strain, the team seems likely to lean on a committee to replace him. The right-handed-hitting Wiemer will crack the lineup Sunday against southpaw Garrett Crochet, but he could find playing time more difficult to come by against right-handed pitching. A skilled defender, Wiemer is capable of playing all three outfield spots, but he's struggled to a .203/.315/.357 slash line across 82 games with two Triple-A clubs this season.

  • Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Scooped up by Fish

The Marlins claimed Wiemer off waivers from the Royals on Monday. Wiemer had been booted off the Royals' 40-man roster after slashing a disappointing .182/.291/.312 with nine home runs at Triple-A Omaha this season. The 26-year-old will look to get back on track offensively at Triple-A Jacksonville.

  • Royals' Joey Wiemer: Goes to minors

The Royals optioned Wiemer to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday. Wiemer had a nice Cactus League showing, sporting an .838 OPS with two home runs and three stolen bases. In spite of that, he will begin the season at Omaha.

  • Reds' Joey Wiemer: Heads back to minors

The Reds optioned Wiemer to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday. Wiemer was with the big club for a few days while Will Benson was on paternity leave, but Wiemer will now head back to the minors with Benson back in the fold. During his brief time with the Reds, Wiemer drew a walk in his lone plate appearance.

  • Reds' Joey Wiemer: Called up to big leagues

The Reds recalled Wiemer from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. Acquired Monday as part of the deal that sent right-hander Frankie Montas to Milwaukee, Wiemer will get the chance to make his Reds debut as he joins the team ahead of its series finale with the Giants. Wiemer likely won't be in line for a long-term stay in Cincinnati, however, as fellow outfielder Will Benson (personal) was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move and will be away from the team for only 1-to-3 games. The 25-year-old Wiemer has spent the bulk of the season at the Triple-A level, slashing .230/.371/.340 with three home runs and seven stolen bases in 55 games between Nashville and Louisville.

  • Reds' Joey Wiemer: Headed to Cincy

The Reds acquired Wiemer, right-hander Jakob Junis and cash considerations from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for right-hander Frankie Montas, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Wiemer will get a new opportunity with Cincinnati after struggling to break through with the Brewers. The outfielder has compiled a .224 average with three home runs, 20 RBI, 27 runs scored and six stolen bases over 236 plate appearances in 53 games with Triple-A Nashville this season. Wiemer will likely report to Triple-A Louisville with his new organization.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Optioned Sunday

The Brewers optioned Wiemer to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. With infielder Oliver Dunn being called up in a corresponding move, Wiemer will head to Nashville less than a week after returning from a stint on the injured list due to a knee injury. Wiemer has gone 4-for-26 at the dish in his 19 games this season with the Brewers.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Returns from injured list

The Brewers activated Wiemer (knee) from the 10-day injured list Monday. Wiemer has missed most of May with a left knee strain but is ready to roll after a brief rehab assignment. He will provide outfield depth for the Brewers and could draw the occasional start against left-handers.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Begins rehab assignment

Wiemer (knee) went 1-for-3 with a run scored in his first rehab game with Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. Wiemer has been out since early May with a left knee strain but has made enough progress to test things out in a game setting. Because he hasn't missed much time, Wiemer's rehab assignment shouldn't last more than a few days.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: No structural damage in knee

Wiemer was diagnosed with a strained popliteus muscle in his left knee Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Wiemer added that the results of his MRI revealed no ligament damage. The 25-year-old outfielder fell awkwardly during Friday's win over the Cubs and landed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, though it doesn't seem like he will be in line for a long-term IL stint.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Lands on IL

The Brewers placed Wiemer (knee) on the 10-day injured list Saturday. Wiemer left Friday's game against the Cubs after his left knee buckled while fielding a ball in the bottom of the eighth inning, and he will undergo an MRI on Saturday, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. With Wiemer moved to the IL, Milwaukee called up Andruw Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Promoted Sunday

The Brewers recalled Wiemer from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. The 25-year-old failed to make Milwaukee's Opening Day roster but is being called up Sunday as outfield depth since Christian Yelich (back) is banged up. Wiemer will start in left field Sunday could split playing time there with Blake Perkins field should Yelich end up on the injured list.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Fails to make Opening Day roster

The Brewers optioned Wiemer to Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports. The Brewers are loaded with outfielders even with Sal Frelick slated to spend some time in the infield, and Wiemer ultimately wasn't able to make the team. The 25-year-old will be given regular at-bats with Nashville.
