  • Giants' Brett Auerbach: Back in MLB camp

Auerbach (elbow) returned to the Giants' big-league camp Wednesday and should be available for Cactus League games in the coming days, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Auerbach had been relegated to minor-league camp after he was recently diagnosed with neuritis in his left elbow, but he's made much quicker progress than anticipated and was cleared to rejoin the Giants' big-league group. The 24-year-old backstop posted a .709 OPS for Double-A Richmond over 425 plate appearances in 2022 and is likely to take over as the No. 1 backstop for Triple-A Sacramento in 2023.

  • Giants' Brett Auerbach: Suffering from elbow neuritis

Auerbach is not with the Giants at spring training after the team announced Thursday he's dealing with elbow neuritis, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Auerbach is instead rehabbing the injury at the Giants' Player Development Center. There's no timeline for his return, while the club added Andy Thomas to big-league camp as depth behind the plate.

  • Giants' Brett Auerbach: Dealing with physical issues

Auerbach is not in Giants camp due to unspecified physical issues, manager Gabe Kapler told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle on Thursday.

As a result, the team has added fellow catcher Andy Thomas to camp as a non-roster invitee. Auerbach hit 17 homers and stole 12 bases at Double-A Richmond in 2022 and, when healthy, should start 2023 at Triple-A Sacramento.
