  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Undergoes Tommy John surgery

De Jesus underwent Tommy John surgery this week, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Given the timing of the reconstructive elbow procedure, De Jesus might not be able to return to live games until the beginning of the 2025 season. The 26-year-old right-hander had posted a 4.21 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 45:20 K:BB through 36.1 innings of relief this summer with the Tigers' Double-A affiliate in Erie.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Outrighted to Triple-A

De Jesus cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

It's mildly surprising that De Jesus wasn't scooped up by another organization, but the Tigers are surely happy he's sticking around. He posted a 2.13 ERA in eight appearances in the majors in 2022.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: DFA'd by Tigers

De Jesus was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Friday.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for waiver claim Zach Logue. De Jesus, who turns 26 in February, held a 2.13 ERA in eight appearances with the big club in 2022 and has piled up plenty of strikeouts in the minors. He could get claimed.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Recalled Saturday

De Jesus was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.

De Jesus was sent down by the Tigers at the beginning of August but will rejoin the big-league club after Joe Jimenez (back) was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Over six appearances with Detroit earlier this year, De Jesus posted a 2.89 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 9.1 innings.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Moves back to minors

De Jesus was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

De Jesus tossed a scoreless inning in each of Detroit's last two games, but with him unavailable for a day or two, he was removed from the roster to open up a spot for fellow reliever Andrew Chafin.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Pitches well Sunday

De Jesus pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's loss to the Twins. He didn't allow a hit or a walk and struck out two.

De Jesus, who was recalled from Triple-A Toledo earlier in the day, was needed in the third inning when Rony Garcia (biceps) was forced out of the contest due to injury. The former pitched well, retiring all seven batters he faced in order. With Detroit dealing with a ton of pitching injuries, De Jesus figures to stick around, though he'll likely remain in the bullpen and not get a look in the rotation. All 30 of the righty's appearances this season between the minors and majors have come in relief.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Called up Sunday

De Jesus was called up from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

De Jesus will return to the majors after he was sent down Friday, replacing Michael Pineda (triceps) on the activer roster after he was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday. The 25-year-old has appeared in two games with the Tigers this year, surrendering two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three over 3.2 innings.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Sent down Friday

De Jesus was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

De Jesus was part of the Tigers' bullpen for the team's final series ahead of the All-Star break, and he allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout in 1.2 innings against the Guardians on Saturday. However, he'll head back to the minors as the Tigers prepare to return to play.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Joins big-league bullpen

De Jesus was recalled by the Tigers on Friday.

De Jesus made his big-league debut earlier this season, tossing a pair of scoreless innings against the Rockies in late April. His 5.40 ERA in 28.1 innings of relief for Triple-A Toledo doesn't inspire much confidence, so he's likely to be limited to low-leverage innings during his time with the team. Jose Cisnero was placed on the bereavement list in a corresponding move.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Optioned to Triple-A

De Jesus was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

De Jesus tossed the final two innings of Detroit's 13-0 victory in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader with the Rockies, and that will be his last big-league appearance for the time being, as he was sent back to Toledo in between contests.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Joins big club

The Tigers recalled De Jesus from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.

Matt Manning (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move, but De Jesus won't be tasked with replacing him in the rotation. Instead, the 25-year-old righty is expected to serve as a depth arm in the bullpen, with most of his appearances with the Tigers likely to come in lower-leverage spots.

  • Tigers' Angel De Jesus: Moves to Triple-A

The Tigers optioned De Jesus to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

De Jesus was one of three players on Detroit's 40-man roster sent out to minor-league camp. He worked mostly in relief for Toledo in 2021, compiling a 4.21 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 62:32 K:BB across 51.1 innings.
