Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Outrighted to Triple-A
Fuentes was outrighted to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Fuentes was sent to the minors in mid-September, but he'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster. The right-hander made seven appearances (five starts) in Rochester during the 2021 campaign and recorded a 19.96 ERA and 3.38 WHIP in 15.1 innings.

Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Activated and optioned
The Nationals reinstated Fuentes (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
With Fuentes' rehab window coming to a close and the Nationals not having a spot for him on the 28-man active roster, he'll head to Triple-A after completing a five-appearance stint across multiple lower-level affiliates. Fuentes built up to 5.1 innings in his most recent rehab start for Double-A Harrisburg on Friday, so he could slide into a spot in the Rochester rotation.

Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Works five frames in rehab start
Fuentes (shoulder) covered five innings and struck out seven in his first rehab start at Double-A Harrisburg on Friday. He was charged with three earned runs on seven hits in the 70-pitch outing.
Fuentes, who has been on the Nationals' 60-day injured list since July 2 with a right shoulder strain, looks to be nearing the end of his recovery program. His outing with Harrisburg was the fourth of his rehab assignment, and his high pitch count suggests that he could be a depth option in the Washington rotation in September. The Nationals don't currently have a need for another starter, so expect the team to option him to Harrisburg or Triple-A Rochester once his rehab window comes to a close.

Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Starts up rehab assignment
Fuentes (shoulder) made the second appearance of his rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Wilmington, working four innings while giving up three runs on five hits while striking out two.
Fuentes has been sidelined since late May with a strained right shoulder, but he appears to be closing in on a return from the Nationals' 60-day injured list. Once activated, Fuentes will likely be optioned to Triple-A Rochester and fill a spot in the rotation.

Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Out with shoulder strain
Fuentes (shoulder) was recalled from Triple-A Rochester and placed on the 60-day injured list Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
The right-hander has been on the injured list at Rochester since late May with a shoulder strain, and the Nationals needed to bring him up to the majors in order to clear space on the 40-man roster. Fuentes will be eligible to be activated in late July, though it's unclear if he's expected to be healthy by that point.

Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Optioned to alternate site
Fuentes has been optioned to the Nationals' alternate site, Byron Kerr of 106.7 The Fan reports.
The right-handed pitcher, who had been called up on April 20, yields his roster spot to Jon Lester. Fuentes did not pitch in a game while on the Nationals' big-league roster.

Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Gets first call-up
The Nationals recalled Fuentes from their alternate training site ahead of Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.
Washington optioned reliever Ryne Harper to the alternate site in a corresponding move. Fuentes will give the Nationals a fresh arm out of the bullpen who's capable of working multiple innings. According to Maria Torres of The Athletic, manager Dave Martinez said Fuentes tossed around 85-to-90 pitches during his most recent outing at the alternate site.

Nationals' Steven Fuentes: Contract selected by Washington
Fuentes had his contract selected by the Nationals on Friday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
The 23-year-old spent the 2020 campaign at the alternate training while finishing his 50-game suspension for a banned stimulant last year. Fuentes would have been eligible for the Rule 5 draft later in the offseason, so the Nationals protected him by adding him to the 40-man roster. The right-hander appeared in 15 games at Double-A Harrisburg in 2019 and posted a 2.69 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 63:15 K:BB over 63.2 innings.
