Mendoza was added to the Cardinals' 60-man roster pool Wednesday and will report to the alternate training site in Springfield, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
The 24-year-old spent most of 2019 at Double-A Springfield and had a .248/.293/.311 slash line, though he also made six appearances for Triple-A Memphis. Mendoza is unlikely to make his major-league debut in 2020 given his lack up success in the upper minors.
