Cristofer Ogando: Moves on from Tampa Bay
Ogando elected free agency Tuesday.
Ogando's decision to head to the open market doesn't come as a major surprise after the Rays booted him off their 40-man roster two weeks ago. The 28-year-old right-hander made his big-league debut with Tampa Bay in July and made three total appearances out of the bullpen, logging a 4.15 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 4.1 innings.

Rays' Cristofer Ogando: Loses spot on 40-man roster
Ogando was designated for assignment by the Rays on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Ogando was sent to Triple-A Durham by the Rays on Wednesday, and he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster a day later as the corresponding move for Easton McGee's contract being selected from Durham. If Ogando goes unclaimed on waivers, it seems likely that he'll remain in the organization.

Rays' Cristofer Ogando: Optioned to Triple-A
Ogando was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Ogando will return to Triple-A after having his contract selected Sept. 23, appearing in two games while in the majors. Over those contests, he tossed 2.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out one. The move was made to open a spot on the active roster for Tyler Glasnow (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Ogando cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Ogando lost his spot on the Rays' 40-man roster Thursday but will remain with the Triple-A club after he went unclaimed on waivers. Over 25 appearances in Durham this year, he's posted a 3.68 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 36.2 innings.

The Rays selected Ogando's contract from Triple-A Durham on Sunday.
Ogando was added from the Rays' taxi squad as a replacement for right-hander Ralph Garza, who wasn't in line to be available for Sunday's series finale in Toronto and was optioned to Triple-A after working two innings in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. During his time at Triple-A this season, the 28-year-old Ogando produced a 3.03 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 32:11 K:BB in 32.2 innings.
