Astros' Kenedy Corona: Clears waivers
Corona was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Corona was placed on waivers Tuesday and went unclaimed. He's eligible to become a free agent, but could also stick around as organizational depth.

Astros' Kenedy Corona: Waived by Houston
The Astros placed Corona on outright waivers Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Corona spent the vast majority of his time at Triple-A Sugar Land in 2025, finishing the season with a .220/.308/.326 slash line through 433 plate appearances. If he clears waivers, he will most likely return to Sugar Land and begin the 2026 season as organizational outfield depth.

Astros' Kenedy Corona: Dispatched to Sugar Land
The Astros optioned Corona to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The 25-year-old will head back to the minors to make room for Chas McCormick (oblique), who was reinstated from the injured list Friday. Corona appeared in just three games during his first career stint in the majors, going 0-for-2 with two walks in the process.

Astros' Kenedy Corona: Receives first MLB call-up
The Astros recalled Corona from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday.
Corona is midway through his second season as a member of the Astros' 40-man roster, but Monday marks his first call-up to the big club. Though Houston placed first baseman Christian Walker (personal) on the paternity list in a corresponding move, Corona won't be a direct replacement for him in the lineup and is instead on hand to provide depth in the outfield while Jake Meyers manages a sore calf. Corona is a standout defender who's capable of handling all three outfield spots, but he hasn't showcased a big-league-caliber bat at Triple-A this season. In 76 games with Sugar Land, Corona slashed .228/.315/.351 with six home runs and an 8-for-13 success rate on stolen-base attempts.

Astros' Kenedy Corona: Heading to minors
The Astros optioned Corona to minor-league camp Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Corona has yet to make his MLB debut and struggled to the tune of a .213/.314/.289 slash line over 396 plate appearances between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land in 2024, so he never seemed to have much of a case for a spot on Houston's Opening Day roster. The speedy 24-year-old will play regularly in the minors to begin the season and could join Houston at some point later in 2025 if the big club's outfield depth is tested.

Astros' Kenedy Corona: Dispatched to minor-league camp
The Astros optioned Corona to minor-league camp Monday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Corona reached base seven times in 15 plate appearances this spring, but he never had a real shot to crack the Opening Day roster. The 23-year-old reached the Double-A level in 2023 but could begin 2024 at Triple-A Sugar Land.

Astros' Kenedy Corona: Added to 40-man roster
The Astros selected Corona to their 40-man roster Tuesday.
Corona, 23, slashed .251/.331/.458 with 22 home runs and 32 stolen bases over 117 games this past season between High-A Asheville and Double-A Corpus Christi. He is now protected from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft.

Astros' Kenedy Corona: Power, speed, defense at Double-A
Corona is slashing .252/.327/.469 with 20 home runs and 29 steals in 104 games for Double-A Corpus Christi.
A potentially plus defensive center fielder, Corona doesn't have to clear a very high offensive bar to eventually earn significant playing time in the big leagues. His 25.9 percent strikeout rate and 70.9 percent contact rate portend mediocre batting averages in his future, but his defense should still buy him opportunities into his mid-20s.
