Rays' Mason Auer: Returns from IL
Double-A Montgomery reinstated Auer (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Thursday.
Auer has gone 2-for-15 with an RBI and a stolen base in three games for Montgomery since completing a two-game rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League earlier this week. He was out of action at Montgomery for about two weeks due to the unspecified injury.

Rays' Mason Auer: Back on IL
Auer (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Montgomery on April 26.
He opened the year on the shelf with a wrist injury and was activated April 23, only to be sidelined again after playing in three games. It's possible Auer aggravated the wrist issue, but there are no reports about the exact injury. He walked twice and stole two bases while only striking out three times in his first 12 plate appearances. If Auer can keep the strikeouts in check this year, he could have a post-hype breakout season, as he is one of the better athletes at Double-A but logged a 36 percent strikeout rate in 124 games during 2023.

Rays' Mason Auer: Back from wrist injury
Auer (wrist) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list at Double-A Montgomery on Tuesday, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.
The 23-year-old landed on the shelf in early April with a wrist injury, but he's now healthy and back on Montgomery's active roster. Auer struggled at the affiliate last season with a .205/.292/.349 slash line and 35.9 percent strikeout rate in 123 games.

Rays' Mason Auer: Out with wrist injury
Auer will miss the first few weeks of the season for Double-A Montgomery with a wrist injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB.com reports.
Auer has all the tools except the hit tool. He didn't face much resistance in the lower levels, but the athletic outfielder hit .205 with a 36 percent strikeout rate in 124 games at Double-A as a 22-year-old. Even amid an underwhelming campaign, he managed 11 home runs and 47 steals, so there's still a very high ceiling if he is able to make massive improvements as a hitter.

Rays' Mason Auer: Overmatched in early going
Auer is hitting .143 with a 54.8 percent strikeout rate in seven games with Double-A Montgomery.
One of the best athletes in the upper levels of the minor leagues, Auer has four of the five tools covered, but his weak hit tool is getting exposed early in his first tour of Double-A. Despite sporting a .226 OBP, Auer already has seven steals on seven attempts through just 31 plate appearances. He just turned 22, so the Rays and dynasty managers can remain patient, as the jump from High-A to Double-A is a significant one.
