  • Nationals' Cayden Wallace: Shipped to Washington

The Royals traded Wallace (oblique) and their Competitive Balance A pick to the Nationals on Saturday in exchange for reliever Hunter Harvey.

Wallace has been recovering from a right oblique strain since late May, but he's appeared in seven rehab games with the Royals' Arizona Complex League affiliate. Prior to the injury, the 22-year-old was playing at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he slashed .282/.350/.427 with three homers across 140 plate appearances. The third baseman was the 49th overall pick in the 2022 draft.

  • Royals' Cayden Wallace: Sidelined with oblique strain

Double-A Northwest Arkansas placed Wallace on its 7-day injured list May 22 with a right oblique strain, MLB.com reports.

According to the report, Wallace is facing a six-week recovery timeline, meaning that he likely won't be back in action for Northwest Arkansas until shortly before or after the All-Star break. The 22-year-old third baseman is hitting .282 with three home runs and two stolen bases over 140 plate appearances for the Double-A club this season.

  • Royals' Cayden Wallace: Moves up to Double-A

The Royals promoted Wallace from High-A Quad Cities to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Monday.

Wallace will be making the jump to Double-A this week along with two of the Royals' other top position prospects in outfielder Gavin Cross and middle infielder Javier Vaz. Over 428 plate appearances at Quad Cities this season, the 22-year-old third baseman slashed .261/.341/.431 with 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 97 games.

  • Royals' Cayden Wallace: Efficient on bases at High-A

Wallace has slashed .258/.336/.439 with nine home runs and 13 steals in 80 games for High-A Quad Cities.

The 21-year-old third baseman hasn't done much to hurt or help his dynasty value this season, as he has been solid across the board, but hasn't done anything to stand out. He has a middling 24.9 percent hard-hit rate, but Wallace's 81.3 percent success rate on 16 stolen-base attempts is a positive development.
