The Red Sox optioned Garcia to minor-league camp Friday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Garcia struggled this spring, going 1-for-21 with a 10:0 K:BB. The 22-year-old finished the 2024 campaign at Double-A Portland and is likely headed back there to begin this season.

The Red Sox selected Garcia's contract from Double-A Portland on Tuesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Garcia spent time at three different levels this season, slashing .286/.356/.536 with 23 home runs and 17 stolen bases. Slated to turn 22 in December, Garcia has experience at all three outfield spots and is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

The Red Sox promoted Garcia from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland on Monday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
With three of the Red Sox's top prospects in Roman Anthony, Kyle Teel and Marcelo Mayer making the move up to Triple-A Worcester, Garcia will receive a promotion of his own to fill one of the vacant roster spots at Portland. The 21-year-old outfielder will be moving up to his third affiliate of the season after beginning the campaign at Single-A Salem before joining Greenville in late May and slashing .311/.371/.632 with 16 home runs in 229 plate appearances during his time in the South Atlantic League.
