Padres' Michael King: Flirts with no-hitter in Game 1
King earned the win in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Cubs on Tuesday. He gave up one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks over seven shutout innings.
The right-hander held Chicago without a hit until the seventh inning, when Nico Hoerner reached on an infield single down the third-base line. It was an electric performance from King, who threw 62 of his 97 pitches for strikes while generating 17 whiffs. The 31-year-old surrendered five runs against the Dodgers during his final start of the regular season, but it was still a productive campaign with a 3.21 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 159:70 K:BB across 185 innings. If the Padres can win one of the next two games to push past the Cubs, King likely lines up to start Game 2 of the NLDS in Milwaukee.

Padres' Michael King: Lasts four frames in loss
King (12-10) took the loss Tuesday, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks over four innings against the Dodgers. He struck out five.
The right-hander delivered a scoreless first inning but was tagged for four runs in the second and another in the fourth to end his evening. King's poor showing snapped a four-start win streak and is the first time since July 28 he surrendered more than three earned runs in an outing. During that nine-start stretch, he posted a 2.26 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 45:18 K:BB across 55.2 innings. King tentatively lines up to pitch the final game of the regular season Sunday versus the Diamondbacks, but the Padres are likely to prioritize his availability for next week's wild-card series.

Padres' Michael King: Six strong innings in 12th win
King (12-9) tallied the win Thursday against the Rockies, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out six.
King bookended his outing in shaky fashion, yielding one run in his first and final innings of work, but it was a strong start overall. The right-hander has been a model of consistency for both the Padres and fantasy managers alike, reeling off eight consecutive quality starts and 12 in his last 14 outings. He's set to bring a workmanlike 3.03 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 154:68 K:BB over 181 innings into his next and likely final appearance of the regular season against the Dodgers.

Padres' Michael King: Bags 11th win
King (11-9) picked up the win in Saturday's 7-6 victory over the Giants, giving up three runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.
The right-hander served up homers to Rafael Devers in the first inning and Shay Whitcomb in the second to account for all the damage against him, but King shut the door from there. He's reeled off seven straight quality starts, giving him 17 on the season, and over that sizzling streak he's produced a 1.81 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB in 44.2 innings while going 5-1. King will look to stay locked in during his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Colorado.

Padres' Michael King: Tosses another scoreless outing
King (9-9) earned the win Monday against the Reds, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out six over six scoreless innings.
King received plenty of support from San Diego's lineup with a four-run fourth inning and cruised to his second straight scoreless outing, giving him 13 consecutive shutout frames. The right-hander has completed at least six innings in nine of his last 11 starts, lowering his ERA from 3.55 to 3.11 during that stretch. King also owns a 1.17 WHIP with 141 strikeouts across 162 innings this season. He's lined up to face his former team, the Yankees, in his next start.

Padres' Michael King: Spins seven scoreless innings
King allowed five hits, issued two walks and hit a batter while striking out seven over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Pirates on Tuesday.
King outlasted Paul Skenes in this pitching duel, but the Pirates would get the last laugh when Oneil Cruz took Mason Miller deep in the ninth inning. This was a fourth straight quality start for King, who has allowed seven runs (six earned) over 25.2 innings in that span. For the season, he's at a 3.23 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 135:60 K:BB through 156 innings over 27 starts. The veteran right-hander's next outing is projected to be in Cincinnati.

Padres' Michael King: Tough loss in quality start Wednesday
King (8-9) took the loss Wednesday as the Padres fell 4-2 to the Mets, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out four.
A two-run home run by Carson Benge in the fourth inning was the only real blemish on King's line for the afternoon, but the right-hander left the mound with the Friars down 2-1 and saw his two-start win streak snapped. King has been on a roll since the beginning of July, producing quality starts in six of his nine outings with a 3.08 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 45:19 K:BB over 52.2 innings. He'll look for more run support in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Pirates.

Padres' Michael King: Wins despite early trouble
King (8-8) earned the win over Cleveland on Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out four across six innings.
King fell into an early hole, allowing three runs across the first three innings, including solo homers to Nathaniel Lowe and Brayan Rocchio. San Diego's offense eventually erased the deficit, and King settled down enough to complete six frames and earn his second consecutive win. The right-hander allowed only one additional run over his final three innings, limiting the damage despite giving up a season-high eight hits. King's ERA now sits at 3.41 and he is scheduled to make his next start on the road against the Mets.
