  • Pistons' Alec Burks: Will miss start of training camp

Burks (foot) will miss the start of training camp and will be re-evaluated in three weeks, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.

Burks underwent offseason foot surgery in June and was initially expected to return for the start of training camp. However, it appears his rehab is moving slowly. Given the three-week timetable, Burks' status for the start of the regular season could be in jeopardy as well.

  • Pistons' Alec Burks: Salary-dumped to Pistons

Burks (foot), along with Nerlens Noel, two second-round pick and cash, was traded Tuesday from the Knicks to the Pistons, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

New York is clearing cap space to pursue a near-max contract for Jalen Brunson. With the Pistons, Burks will likely be one of the first guards off the bench. He appeared in 81 games last season and averaged 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.6 minutes.

  • Knicks' Alec Burks: Undergoes offseason surgery

Burks underwent offseason foot surgery recently and is expected to return for the start of training camp, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.

Burks made 81 appearances for the Knicks last year and posted better than 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for a second straight season. He also tied his career high with 3.0 assists per game. Burks' solid play certainly has helped New York stay in playoff contention the last two campaigns, but the Knicks will likely need to upgrade the point guard position this offseason, which may mean a lesser role for Burks moving forward.

  • Knicks' Alec Burks: Bounces back with 19 points

Burks totaled 19 points (6-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Sunday's 118-88 win over the Magic.

This was a nice bounceback effort for Burks, who struggled in Saturday night's loss to the Cavs, finishing with just 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting in 28 minutes. Overall, it's been an up-and-down year for the Colorado product, but he's come on strong over the final month of the season. Entering Sunday, Burks was averaging 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.0 threes over his previous 10 appearances.

  • Knicks' Alec Burks: Struggles in loss

Burks registered 11 points (3-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and one assist over 28 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 119-101 loss to the Cavaliers.

Burks' single assist was his lowest mark since he failed to record one Feb. 27, and his 11 points were his fewest since March 20. However, he at least extended his streak of double-digit scoring to 10 games.

  • Knicks' Alec Burks: Three-pointer seals win

Burks supplied 18 points (4-6 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 33 minutes during Sunday's 104-102 win over the Pistons.

Burks provided two key plays down the stretch, including a final three-pointer that put the game out of reach. Burks has enjoyed a productive March, averaging 13.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists over 14 games.

  • Knicks' Alec Burks: Fills stat sheet Wednesday

Burks posted 17 points (5-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals over 33 minutes during Wednesday's 121-106 victory over the Hornets.

Burks continues to produce for the Knicks, and while the accuracy is not a consistent part of this game, that won't matter much if he keeps producing every time he steps on the hardwood. He's scored in double digits in all but one of his last eight games while reaching the 15-point mark four times in that span.

  • Knicks' Alec Burks: Relatively quiet in win

Burks racked up 10 points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one steal over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 128-98 win over the Trail Blazers.

Burks continues to be the every-night starter at point guard for the Knicks, but his production has remained modest and mostly inconsistent. Burks may be of use to some deep-league managers in need of points, rebounds and assists, but he's shooting just 37.6 percent from the field since the All-Star break.
