Cole Aldrich: Waived by Hawks
Aldrich was waived by the Hawks on Tuesday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Aldrich was merely a camp body for the Hawks and wasn't expected to make much of an impact if he did surprisingly make it through the final roster cuts. Instead, Aldrich is now expected to head overseas and is finalizing a deal to play in China, according to freelance reporter Jeff Goodman. If he plays well with his Chinese club team, there's certainly a chance he's able to land a spot in the NBA next season.... See More ... See Less
Hawks' Cole Aldrich: Joining Atlanta for camp
Aldrich will sign a training camp deal with the Hawks, Jace Frederick of St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Aldrich, who is entering his age 29 season, appeared in just 21 games for the Timberwolves last season as a depth option at center. If he ends up making the Hawks roster, it seems unlikely his role would be much bigger this season. He's never cracked 1,000 minutes in a single season.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Waived by Timberwolves
Aldrich was waived by the Timberwolves on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Aldrich spent the previous two seasons in Minnesota, but saw his role largely reduced from an already limited workload this past year. He saw the court just 21 times for an average of 2.3 minutes per contest. The veteran big man will now pursue a new opportunity.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Doesn't play in blowout loss
Aldrich did not see the floor during Sunday's loss to the Jazz.
While the game was decided relatively early in the fourth quarter, Aldrich failed to enter the game and was listed as a DNP-CD. While he missed the previous three games with an illness, Aldrich looked to be available Sunday, but coach Tom Thibodeau opted to go with Justin Patton (four minutes) instead.... See More ... Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Out again Friday
Alrdrich (illness) will remain out for Friday's game against Dallas, Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune reports.
Aldrich will miss a third straight game while fighting an illness, but the expectation is that he'll be back to availability within the next few days. Regardless, the former Kansas standout isn't a fantasy contributor in leagues of any size.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Will not play Wednesday
Aldrich (illness) will not play Wednesday against the Hawks.
Aldrich will miss his second consecutive game as he continues to deal with an illness. His absence won't have much of an effect on the rotation, as he's averaging just 2.4 minutes per game this season. His next opportunity to play will be Friday against the Mavericks and he should be considered questionable for that game at this time.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Unavailable Monday
Aldrich will not play Monday against the Grizzlies due to an illness.
Aldrich has been mostly a garbage-time-only option for the Wolves , though he did play a season-high 12 minutes in Saturday's loss to the 76ers, marking the first time all year that he played double-digit minutes. Consider the veteran questionable to return Wednesday versus Atlanta.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: No minutes in blowout win
Aldrich (coach's decision) didn't leave the bench in the Timberwolves' 127-99 win over the Cavaliers on Monday.
Aldrich had seen spot minutes in garbage time in three of the Timberwolves' last six games, so it's somewhat surprising he didn't see any run in a contest Minnesota led by as many as 41 points. At any rate, it will take an injury to two of the Timberwolves' four key rotation members in the frontcourt (Karl-Anthony Towns, Taj Gibson, Gorgui Dieng and Nemanja Bjelica) before Aldrich sees even consistent run off the bench.... Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Available to play Wednesday
Aldrich (ankle) is available to play in Wednesday's matchup with the Spurs.
Aldrich was available to play in an emergency situation Monday, but didn't end up seeing the court. It's unclear if he'll ultimately play on Wednesday either, though the fact that he's available indicates he's likely nearing a full recovery of his sprained right ankle. Aldrich should provide depth at center behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Taj Gibson.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Listed as questionable Wednesday
Aldrich (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Spurs.
Aldrich was available to play in Monday's matchup with the Jazz, but only in an emergency situation and ultimately didn't end up seeing the floor as he continues to nurse a sprained right ankle. He's now been downgraded to questionable ahead of Wednesday's contest and a final decision on his availability may not come until just prior to tip off. Gorgui Dieng (finger) is also doubtful, meaning the Timberwolves could once again be short on bodies in the frontcourt.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Available in emergency situation Monday
Aldrich (ankle) is available to play on an emergency basis for Monday's game against the Jazz.
Aldrich has dealt with a right ankle sprain, missing the last two games because of it. With both Gorgui Dieng (finger) and Justin Patton (foot) out, the Timberwolves are hurting for depth in the frontcourt, but it sounds like they'll do everything in their power to keep Aldrich off the floor. That said, if Aldrich does play, he likely wouldn't see a very big workload.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Questionable for Monday
Aldrich (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Jazz.
Aldrich was held out of Saturday's game against the Suns with a right ankle sprain and he's still dealing with some lingering discomfort. He'll continue to receive treatment overnight and then will likely test out the ankle during morning shootaround on Monday. Look for an update shortly after that, though for now, Aldrich will remain questionable.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Out Saturday
Aldrich (ankle) is out for Saturday's game against the Suns.
With both Aldrich and Gorgui Dieng (finger) out, the Wolves will have to get creative on the frontline. The most likely scenario seems to be that Taj Gibson plays some reserve center while Nemanja Bjelica sees more run at power forward.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Questionable Saturday with ankle sprain
Aldrich is questionable for Saturday's game against the Suns due to an ankle sprain.
Even if Aldrich sits the game out, it likely won't affect the Wolves' rotation too much. He's played just nine total minutes this season. That said, with Gorgui Dieng also questionable with a sprained finger, Aldrich could be in line to see additional run.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Stuck on bench
Aldrich did not play in Wednesday's loss at San Antonio due to a coach's decision.
Aldrich doesn't have a role in the rotation and will likely be stuck on the bench most nights barring injuries. He's a candidate to be traded during the season since he'll be in the final year of a three-year deal next season and his expiring contract may have value.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Plays only one game this preseason
Aldrich played eight minutes during his single preseason appearance.
Aldrich played in 62 games for the Timberwolves last season, averaging 8.6 minutes per game. The 28-year-old will likely play end-of-rotation minutes this season since Karl-Anthony Towns, Gorgui Dieng, and Justin Patton (foot) are all ahead of him on the depth chart.... See More ... See Less
