Top Trey Lyles News

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Second-best scoring option in loss

Lyles had 15 points (6-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds and one steal over 20 minutes during Saturday's 117-98 loss to the Clippers.

Lyles shot 60 percent from the floor and was exponentially more effective than Harrison Barnes in the loss. Lyles' efficient shooting is how he's carved out a role in Sacramento after coming over from Detroit.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Goes for 24 points

Lyles supplied 24 points (5-12 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 10-12 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 37 minutes during Wednesday's 121-118 win over Houston.

Lyles has been playing well as a starter in recent weeks, and his numbers back that up, as the veteran forward has now scored 10 or more points in each of his last seven games. He's averaging 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest in that span while also recording two double-doubles over the same stretch.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Career-best effort on glass

Lyles notched 11 points (3-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 18 rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes during Saturday's 114-110 overtime victory over the Magic.

The 18 boards were a career high for Lyles, who also supplied his third double-double of the season and second in the last five games. The journeyman big has started 13 straight games for the Kings, and his role has only grown with both Domantas Sabonis (knee) and Richaun Holmes (personal) sidelined -- over that stretch, Lyles is averaging 11.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 threes.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Solid in start

Lyles registered 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), three rebounds and two assists across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 110-109 win over the Pacers.

Lyles has been seeing substantial usage since being acquired from Detroit at the deadline. The 26-year-old has averaged 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds on 50.6 percent shooting from the field and 39.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc over 25.3 minutes per game across 11 contests in March. He's a candidate for more solid output Saturday against Orlando.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Grabs team-high 11 rebounds

Lyles posted nine points (3-4 FG, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds and one assist across 24 minutes during Monday's 112-103 victory over the Bulls.

Lyles is now a fixture in the starting lineup, and he's putting up great defensive numbers with the change of scenery. The one-two punch of Lyles and Domantas Sabonis will have solid fantasy value in the closing weeks of the season.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Comes close to double-double

Lyles closed with 14 points (6-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 106-100 loss to the Nuggets.

Lyles ended just one rebound shy of posting a double-double, and the big man has looked quite good since moving into a starting role. Lyles is averaging 11.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game since the move six games ago.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Shines in starting role

Lyles recorded 24 points (10-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds and two assists over 31 minutes during Monday's 131-110 victory over the Thunder.

Lyles moved into the starting lineup in place of Maurice Harkless for the first time since he was traded to Sacramento on Feb. 10. The move paid off for the Kings, as Lyles enjoyed by far his best performance since joining the team. The veteran forward had combined for only 12 points over 30 minutes across four games with Sacramento entering Monday, but he could be in store for much more playing time given his performance against OKC.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Makes first start with new team

Lyles is starting Monday's game against Oklahoma City, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.

Lyles hasn't seen many opportunities off the bench since arriving in Sacramento, averaging 7.5 minutes, 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in four games, but he did see a sizeable uptick in playing time Saturday against Denver (16 minutes). Maurice Harkless will come off the bench due to the lineup change.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Available to debut Saturday

Lyles (recently traded) is available to make his Kings debut during Saturday's matchup against the Wizards, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.

Lyles was a consistent rotation piece for Detroit. He saw 19.4 minutes per game and averaged 10.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists. However, that was on one of the worst teams in the league that also happened to have poor frontcourt depth. Sacramento's frontcourt situation is much better, so Lyles may have a hard time reaching the type of workload he saw in Detroit.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Sent to Sacramento

Lyles was traded to the Kings in a four-team deal Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The Kings also acquired Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Jackson. The Bucks received Serge Ibaka, cash and two future second-round picks. The Clippers acquired Rodney Hood and Semi Ojeleye. The Pistons got Marvin Bagley.

Lyles is essentially a throw-in for the Kings to get a rotation player, while the Pistons take a chance on the higher upside of Bagley. That said, it seems unlikely Lyles will factor much into the Kings' gameplan given that he'll be competing for minutes with Domantas Sabonis, Richaun Holmes, Damian Jones, Maurice Harkless, Harrison Barnes and Chimezie Metu.
