Top Chet Holmgren News

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Scoring efficiently

Holmgren posted 21 points (8-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and one block across 30 minutes during Tuesday's 124-112 victory over the Warriors.

Tuesday marked Holmgren's third game in a row scoring 19 or more points on higher than 50 percent shooting. Holmgren's eight rebounds matched his season average, and he's failed to notch a double-double in his past 10 outings.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Comes close to double-double

Holmgren produced 19 points (9-15 FG, 1-4 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal over 30 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 123-115 win over the Trail Blazers.

Holmgren finished just one rebound away from recording what would've been his first double-double since Nov. 11, when he had 23 points and 11 boards in a win over the Warriors. The big man should continue playing at center following the return of Jalen Williams and the absence of Isaiah Hartenstein (calf). Holmgren is averaging 14.0 points, 7.6 boards, 2.0 assists and 1.6 blocks per game over his last five outings.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Hits for 23 in win over Phoenix

Holmgren posted 23 points (8-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), eight rebounds and one assist across 32 minutes during Friday's 123-119 victory over the Suns.

The third-year big man bounced back from a brief scoring slump that had seen him top out at 12 points over the prior three games. Holmgren had delivered more than 20 points in five of the six games before that, however, and through 12 contests in November he's averaging 16.6 points, 7.2 boards, 1.8 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.2 threes while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor in 27.9 minutes.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Scores 12 points with nine boards

Holmgren closed with 12 points (4-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 29 minutes during Wednesday's 113-105 win over the Timberwolves.

While Holmgren struggled with his shot for most of the game, he came through when it mattered most, as he drilled a clutch triple with under a minute left to put the Thunder up for good. Head coach Mark Daigneault heaped praise on him after the match, calling Holmgren's late three-ball the "shot of the game," according to Nick Gallo of the Thunder's official site. With the win, the Thunder became just the fifth team in NBA history to open the season 18-1.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Minimal impact vs. Portland

Holmgren finished Sunday's 122-95 victory over the Trail Blazers with five points (2-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks over 25 minutes.

Holmgren had a rough offensive showing, and this five-point output was not only the first time he didn't score in double digits, but it was his worst scoring output of the campaign. Holmgren posted decent numbers in other categories, so there's a chance this was nothing more than an off night for the big man's jumper. Holmgren is averaging a solid 16.4 points per game in November, even when factoring in this five-point effort Sunday.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Swats three shots vs. Sacramento

Holmgren logged 21 points (10-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal over 31 minutes during the Thunder's 113-99 win over the Kings on Wednesday.

Although Holmgren wasn't efficient from deep, he was effective inside the arc and finished second on the Thunder in scoring behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (33). Wednesday marked the third time this season that Holmgren recorded at least three blocks, and he has scored at least 20 points in five of his last six games. Over that span, he has averaged 21.2 points on 64.6 percent shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 blocks over 28.5 minutes per game.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Rolls to 26-point night

Holmgren logged 26 points (10-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds and one block in 33 minutes during Monday's 126-109 victory over the Pelicans.

Holmgren turned in an efficient shooting performance, posting a team-high point total while putting together his best scoring night since Oct. 25 against the Hawks. He was nearly as productive on the boards, falling just one rebound shy of a double-double. Holmgren continues to play at a high level, pouring in 20-plus points in four of his last five matchups.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Comes close to double-double

Holmgren totaled 25 points (10-20 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and one block across 32 minutes during Saturday's 109-96 victory over Charlotte.

Holmgren attempted a season-high 20 shots Saturday, but he was efficient enough to record at least 20 points for the third time in his last four contests. The big man is averaging 16.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game since the beginning of November.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Perfect from field in win

Holmgren had 23 points (9-9 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and one block across 25 minutes during Tuesday's 126-102 win over the Warriors.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stole the show with a 28-point, 11-assist performance, but Holmgren was excellent as well, posting a double-double without missing a single shot from the field. This was Holmgren's fourth double-double of the season and first since Oct. 27. Expect Holmgren to continue operating as the Thunder's second option behind Gilgeous-Alexander while Jalen Williams (wrist) is sidelined.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Efficient performance in win

Holmgren racked up 21 points (8-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday's 114-100 victory over the Grizzlies.

The big man continues to work his way back from a lower back injury, and this was his best performance -- from a statistical perspective -- since suffering the injury in late October. Also, this was just the third time Holmgren has scored over 20 points in a game this season. He's averaging 19.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 blocks per game in seven outings. However, his numbers should improve if he can stay healthy and play regularly as he did before sustaining the back problem Oct. 27.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Off injury report for Friday

Holmgren (lower back) isn't listed on the injury report ahead of Friday's game against the Kings, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.

Holmgren was held out of the second half of a back-to-back Wednesday as a precaution after he previously returned from to a lower back strain. He'll be ready to roll for Friday's matchup and will aim to continue his strong start to the year, averaging 20.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks through five appearances.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Won't play Wednesday

Holmgren (lower back sprain) will not play Wednesday against Portland.

Holmgren returned from a three-game absence during Tuesday's 126-107 victory over the Clippers, finishing with 11 points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal over 30 minutes. The Thunder will play it safe on the second leg of this back-to-back set, however. In Holmgren's absence, the Thunder will likely rely on Isaiah Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Logs 11 points in return

Holmgren (back) racked up 11 points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal over 30 minutes during Tuesday's 126-107 victory over the Clippers.

Back in the starting lineup after missing three games with a low back strain, Holmgren didn't operate with any restrictions. He still had a muted performance in his return to the court, with his 11-point output representing his lowest scoring tally of his five appearances on the season. The Thunder will face a quick turnaround with their next game coming Wednesday in Portland, so it wouldn't be surprising if Holmgren was held out for maintenance purposes in that game or had his playing time monitored more closely if he suits up.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Not listed on injury report

Holmgren (back) is not on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's game against the Clippers.

It looks like Holmgren will be returning from a three-game absence Tuesday night, which should shift Aaron Wiggins back to the second unit and cause Jaylin Williams' minutes to dip. Tuesday's game will be the first of a back-to-back, so it wouldn't be shocking to see Holmgren sit out Wednesday's game in Portland for load-management purposes. Still, with four games on the schedule this week, Holmgren is worth rolling with in all fantasy formats.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Out again Sunday

Holmgren (back) will not play Sunday against the Pelicans.

Holmgren will miss his third game in a row, and it's not a great sign that he's being ruled out a day in advance. Additionally, the injury is now being described as a sprain instead of soreness. His next chance to play comes Tuesday against the Clippers, which is the front end of a back-to-back set. Jaylin Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein could see a bump in value with this news, as well as Cason Wallace and Aaron Wiggins if the Thunder opt to play a bit smaller.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Won't play Thursday

Holmgren (back) will not suit up for Thursday's game against the Wizards, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.

This will be the second straight game on the sidelines for Holmgren, which will result in more minutes for Cason Wallace and Aaron Wiggins. Holmgren's next chance to play will come Sunday against the Pelicans.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Won't play vs. Sacramento

Holmgren (back) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Kings.

After recording a double-double during Monday's game against the Mavericks, Holmgren will be sidelined for the second game of the back-to-back set with a back issue. The team will likely pivot to Aaron Wiggins to help shoulder the load in the frontcourt.

  • Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Double-doubles in victory

Holmgren contributed 18 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 11 rebounds, four blocks and two assists across 32 minutes in Monday's 101-94 win over the Mavericks.

Holmgren finished as Oklahoma City's second-leading scorer and rebounder, recording his third consecutive double-double. The 7-foot-1 center also racked up a game high in blocks and now has five swats through four regular-season games. Over that span, the 23-year-old has averaged 23.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.3 steals across 34.0 minutes per contest. He's also shooting 41.7 percent from three-point range.
