Celtics' Derrick White: Hands out eight dimes
White produced 17 points (7-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt), one rebound, eight assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Tuesday's 121-113 loss to the Pistons.
White finished second on the Celtics in assists behind Jayson Tatum's 11 while knocking down three triples in an efficient shooting performance. The veteran guard committed four turnovers, but his substantial playing time and involvement as a secondary playmaker provide a solid foundation for his fantasy value alongside Tatum and Paul George.

Celtics' Derrick White: Expected to play Tuesday
White (rest) is expected to play in Tuesday's game against Detroit.
White didn't suit up for Friday's 125-120 preseason overtime win over the 76ers to rest but is expected to play versus the Pistons. The 32-year-old averaged a career-best 16.5 points along with 4.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals over 34.1 minutes in 77 regular-season games in 2025-26. White did have some trouble finding the net, especially from deep, though he reportedly worked on his shot during the offseason.

Celtics' Derrick White: Makes impact at both ends of court Wednesday
White played 20 minutes in Wednesday's preseason win over the Hornets, scoring 17 points (6-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and adding four steals, three rebounds and two assists.
Making his second appearance of the exhibition schedule, the veteran point guard finished second to Jayson Tatum in scoring for Boston while leading a defense that snatched 16 steals in total. White will be looking to improve his efficiency in 2026-27 after shooting a career-worst 39.4 percent from the floor last season, along with a 32.7 percent mark from three-point range that was a steep decline from the prior three campaigns.

Celtics' Derrick White: Solid outing in blowout win
White posted 15 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 26 minutes during Saturday's 144-106 preseason win over the 76ers.
White finished behind Jayson Tatum, Payton Pritchard and Hugo Gonzalez in scoring. However, despite the 32-year-old's scoring contributions, he shot just 20.0 percent from deep, which isn't an encouraging sign after he shot a career-low 27.3 percent from downtown during the 2026 Playoffs. With Jaylen Brown now in Philadelphia, White could see more offensive opportunities than ever in 2026-27, and since he worked on his shot during the offseason, his three-point issues might be behind him.

Celtics' Derrick White: Importance in Boston grows
White could see a slight uptick in offensive responsibility following Boston's acquisition of Paul George in exchange for Jaylen Brown and other assets, John Schuhmann of NBA.com reports.
George's ability to space the floor and operate off the ball should fit well alongside White. However, Brown's departure leaves significant shot-creation opportunities that White may be asked to fill. His versatile stat profile already gives him a high fantasy floor, and a modest increase in usage would further boost his value.

Celtics' Derrick White: Too little, too late in loss
White recorded 26 points (9-26 FG, 5-16 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 45 minutes during Saturday's 109-100 loss to Philadelphia in Game 7 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
White had easily his most productive game of the postseason, albeit in a losing effort. Despite continuing to struggle with his shot, he scored at least 20 points for the first time in the playoffs and for the first time since mid-March. Saturday's Game 7 loss brings down the curtain on a disappointing end to the season for the Celtics, who had a 3-1 series lead. Across 77 regular-season appearances, White averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 combined steals-plus-blocks in 34.1 minutes per tilt.
