Ryan Jones: Waived by Big Blue
The Giants waived Jones on Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Jones signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in May after posting 41 catches for 413 yards and four scores for East Carolina in 2022. The rookie battled a knee issue during offseason work and delivered muted production in the preseason, securing three of four targets for 21 yards. If Jones clears waivers, the Giants would presumably like to sign him to a practice-squad deal.

Giants' Ryan Jones: Logs one catch in preseason opener
Jones (knee) caught his only target for 10 yards in Friday's exhibition loss against Detroit.
Jones sat out a couple days of training camp at the end of July due to a knee issue, but he has since recovered and was able to suit up in the preseason opener. The tight end signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in May after tallying 41 catches for 413 yards and four touchdowns as a senior at East Carolina last year. Jones is a long shot to make New York's initial 53-man roster.

Giants' Ryan Jones: Gets Sunday off
Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters Sunday that Jones (knee) will not participate in practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Jones signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in May after posting 41 catches for 413 yards and four touchdowns in his final collegiate season at East Carolina. He's competing for a depth spot in a tight end room led by veteran Darren Waller and 2022 fourth-round draft pick Daniel Bellinger.

Giants' Ryan Jones: Signs with Giants
Jones signed a contract with the Giants as an undrafted free agent Friday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Jones reeled in 41 catches for 413 yards and four touchdowns in 2022 with East Carolina and he will now have a shot to prove himself with the Giants. Considering that he's heading to a team that has both Darren Waller and Daniel Bellinger at tight end, Jones will likely only be considered for a practice-squad spot to start 2023.
