Thomas is -- as of Friday -- one of five AAF players to sign with an NFL team. The Texas product logged 22 total tackles (19 solo, three assisted), one interception and one fumble recovery in his time with the San Antonio Commanders.

Thomas has yet to appear in a regular-season game since going undrafted out of Texas in 2015. With the Cowboys' top four roster spots at cornerback seemingly set in stone, he'll need to outperform the likes of Marquez White and Kam Kelly in training camp to secure a depth role. In all likelihood, whoever shows the most potential on special teams will stick around.

Thomas was spotted at the Cowboys' practice facility Monday in a walking boot, Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The injury presumably occurred in the team's exhibition victory over the Raiders on Saturday. The extent of the issue is unknown at this time. However, a prompt return to practice will be advantageous for Thomas' chances at landing on the final roster.
