The Cowboys waived Lucas on Friday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Lucas performed when called upon as a receiving option in the preseason, but he wasn't able to carve out a depth role in Dallas' tight end room. He'll likely need to catch on in a special-teams capacity to earn a gig elsewhere in the league.
