Tauaefa picked up a knee injury during Week 5's loss to the Vikings, and his status for Thursday's tilt against New England appears up in the air. After Ryan Connelly tore his ACL and was ruled out for the season, the Giants promoted Tauaefa from the practice squad. The undrafted rookie is competing with Nate Stupar for a starting role alongside David Mayo right away since Alec Ogletree (hamstring) and Tae Davis (concussion) have been ruled out.

Tauaefa led the Giants in tackles over the preseason with 16 total to go with a sack and a fumble recovery. At Texas-San Antonio, he recorded 257 total tackles and 11.5 sacks over three seasons. Tauaefa will likely play a depth role in New York's linebacking corps moving forward.
