Bercovici was released from the Cardinals' practice squad Thursday, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports.
Bercovici was originally brought in when Carson Palmer was ruled out with a broken arm, but with the Cardinals wanting to evaluate other players, they saw the quarterback as expendable.

Mike Bercovici: Signed to Cardinals' practice squad
Bercovici signed with the Cardinals' practice squad Tuesday, Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
With Carson Palmer out for an extended period of time with a broken arm, the Cardinals will bring in Bercovici as nothing more than an emergency option at quarterback. He was most recently released by the Chargers prior to the start of the regular season.

Chargers' Mike Bercovici: Efficient in win over Cardinals
Bercovici completed nine of his 13 pass attempts for 134 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Cardinals.
Bercovici came on in relief of Kellen Clemens and was extremely efficient in limited duty, averaging 8.3 yards per attempt and receiving a quarterback rating of 94.4. Bercovici will continue to battle for a roster spot behind Philip Rivers with Kellen Clemens and Zach Mettenberger, and performances such as Friday's will help his cause as the franchise trims the roster moving forward.
