Top C.J. Reavis News

  • C.J. Reavis: Let go by Falcons

Reavis was waived by the Falcons on Thursday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Anticipating the arrival of blocking tight end Luke Stocker, Atlanta decided to part ways with one of its developmental prospects in Reavis. The former Virginia Tech Hokie had been a member of the Falcons' practice squad since last November, but he became expendable with 10 other cornerbacks currently vying for attention in training camp.

  • C.J. Reavis: Parts ways with Jacksonville

Reaves was waived by the Jaguars on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The move is somewhat surprising, as Reavis looked good throughout the preseason and the Jaguars don't have much depth at safety. The 23-year-old was promoted from the practice squad late last season and had one tackle in four games, mostly playing on special teams.

  • Jaguars' C.J. Reavis: Leads team in tackles Thursday

Reavis had eight tackles (six solo) in Thursday's preseason loss to the Ravens.

Reavis tied for the team lead with 50 defensive snaps and made an impact while on the field, as coach Doug Marrone included him on a list of players that "helped themselves" with their performance, per Ashlyn Sullivan of the Jaguars' official site. The 23-year-old spent most of last season on the practice squad before being promoted in late November and is poised to serve in a reserve role at safety, though the inexperience of starters Ronnie Harrison and Jarrod Wilson could lead to more opportunities.

  • Jaguars' C.J. Reavis: Added to roster

The Jaguars promoted Reavis to the 53-man roster, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Reavis was promoted from the practice squad to take the place of guard Andrew Norwell, who was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. The rookie defensive back is expected to provide depth to Jacksonville's secondary, and he'll be making his NFL debut whenever he sees action.

  • C.J. Reavis: Signs with Jags' practice squad

Reavis (concussion) has signed with the Jaguars' practice squad after being waived by the team Saturday.

Reavis was in concussion protocol late into the preseason, but the fact that he was waived without an injury designation suggests he's fine. The rookie defensive back will stay with the team as a member of the practice squad and could find his way to an active roster once injuries start piling up.

  • Jaguars' C.J. Reavis: In concussion protocol

Reavis is in the concussion protocol and isn't taking part in Monday's practice, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.

An undrafted rookie free agent, Reavis has had an unremarkable offseason. Reavos was already a long shot to make the 53-man roster, and missing time with a concussion won't help the 22-year-old's case.
