Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: One catch against Raiders
Brooks recorded one catch on two targets for 11 yards in Saturday's 31-16 preseason win over the Raiders.
Brooks saw both of his targets on Dallas' first drive and played eight of 11 snaps with the game's starters on the field. His quiet performance could actually mean good things for his chances to make the roster, as the Cowboys rested the top four receivers on their depth chart and Brooks exited early in the contest. Even if he makes the roster, he'll at best be the fifth wide receiver, so he isn't likely to make a significant offensive impact.

Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Making push for roster spot
Brooks would likely be on the Cowboys' initial 53-man roster if the season started this weekend, Jon Machota and Saad Yousef of The Athletic report.
The 2023 seventh-round pick has stood out in training camp so far, notably outperforming the inconsistent but more athletic Simi Fehoko in the battle for the No. 6 spot on the wide receiver depth chart. Brooks will need to keep building momentum through the preseason to secure a roster spot, but so far so good for the South Carolina product.

Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Headed to Dallas
The Cowboys selected Brooks in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 244th overall.
Brooks began his collegiate career at North Carolina before ultimately transferring to South Carolina. As a result, he didn't post much meaningful production until his senior season, during which he recorded 33 receptions, 503 yards and a touchdown. He doesn't possess many standout traits as a pro, though Dallas lacks quality depth among its wide receiver corps so it's a decent landing spot.
