Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Cleared for Week 4
Sinnott (ribs) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts.
Sinnott has no fantasy value, especially with Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) cleared to return against Indianapolis after missing the previous two contests. Sinnott has one catch for six yards on two targets across three appearances this season.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Limited at Thursday's practice
Sinnott (ribs) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice.
Both Sinnott and Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) remained limited Thursday after being estimated as limited participants during Wednesday's walkthrough. Sinnott failed to capitalize on Okonkwo's absence over the previous two games, recording just one catch for six yards on two targets over that span. If Sinnott suits up Sunday against the Colts, most of his contributions will come as a blocker.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Limited with rib injury
Sinnott (ribs) was estimated as limited in Wednesday's practice.
Sinnott played 34 offensive snaps in the upset win over the Seahawks in Week 3, and now his status is in some question heading into the Commanders' matchup with the Colts in London on Sunday. While Sinnott earned a limited designation Washington, the Commanders merely held a walkthrough. Sinnott's status will particularly bear monitoring the rest of the week, as Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) remains questionable after missing the last two games.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Catches sole target in loss
Sinnott caught his only target for six yards in Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Cowboys.
Sinnott played 48 of the Commanders' 71 offensive snaps as well as nine special-teams snaps in Sunday's contest. The tight end started due to Chig Okonkwo's (hamstring) absence and also put in plenty of time as a blocker.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Bigger role on tap
Sinnott should operate in an elevated role in the Commanders' offense against the Cowboys on Sunday after Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) was ruled out.
Sinnott did not see a target from Jayden Daniels during the Commanders' Week 1 loss to the Eagles, with the former playing 18 snaps on offense. John Bates is expected to be the Commanders' TE1 in Okonkwo's absence, but Sinnott -- who drew praise from the coaching staff for his development during training camp -- also should operate in an elevated role against Dallas.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Doesn't record a stat
Sinnott played on 18 offensive snaps and 16 special-teams snaps but did not record a stat in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Eagles.
The tight end was third in his positional rotation behind Chig Okonkwo (38 snaps) and John Bates (32). Sinnott caught 16 passes across his first two regular seasons in the NFL, but he has functioned mainly as a blocker in his professional career.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Full participant in Wednesday's practice
Sinnott (oblique) practiced in full Wednesday.
Sinnott has been battling an oblique injury since the preseason. However, his full participation in Wednesday's practice suggests he is cleared to suit up for the Week 1 meeting with the Eagles. The 24-year-old appeared in 16 regular-season games for the Commanders in 2025, totaling 11 catches for 114 yards and one touchdown.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Sidelined for preseason finale
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said that Sinnott is dealing with an oblique injury and is unlikely to play in Friday's preseason finale versus the Ravens, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Sinnott won't practice this week after sustaining the injury this past Saturday. Quinn didn't indicate that the tight end's availability for the Commanders' Sept. 13 season opener versus the Eagles is in any peril, but Sinnott will likely need to return to full practice at some point over the next two-plus weeks to put himself on a path to play.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Running more routes in camp
Sinnott has run a wider variety of routes in training camp compared to previous years, though that is also the case for Washington's other tight ends, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
New offensive coordinator David Blough is emphasizing versatility in his tight-end room, which includes Sinnott, Chig Okonkwo and John Bates, among others. Okonkwo is expected to get most of the pass-catching opportunities at the position. Sinnott hasn't shown much in that department, as the 2024 second-round pick has just 16 catches through 33 career regular-season games.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Difficult path to targets again
Sinnott has a chance to earn a larger role in 2026, but free-agent signing Chig Okonkwo figures to replace Zach Ertz (knee) as Washington's top pass-catching tight end, according to Bryan Manning of Commanders Wire.
With Kliff Kingsbury calling plays the past two seasons, Sinnott drew just 18 targets in 33 regular-season games (652 snaps). New offensive coordinator David Blough may have a somewhat larger role in mind, but the recent Okonkwo signing (three years, $30 million) hints at Sinnott and John Bates mostly blocking again. Bates is a better blocker, and he signed an extension last March, putting Sinnott at risk of a third straight season as merely the No. 3 TE in Washington. Sinnott may even enter training camp on the roster bubble, albeit with age (24 in June), draft capital (53rd overall in 2024) and athleticism (4.68 40) working in his favor.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Held to three yards in Week 18
Sinnott caught both of his targets for three yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over Philadelphia.
The 2024 second-round pick finishes his second NFL season with a 11-114-1 line on 13 targets. Sinnott played more than 50 percent of offensive snaps in each of the final four games, catching seven of nine targets for 73 yards during that stretch. The Commanders likely are in need of a new starting tight end with Zach Ertz recovering from an ACL tear and scheduled for free agency, but Sinnott hasn't shown much of anything to suggest he can be that player. There's still late-breakout argument, depending on Washington's offseason moves in the coming months.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Makes three grabs vs. Cowboys
Sinnott secured three of four targets for 29 yards during Thursday's 30-23 loss to Dallas.
Sinnott logged his first game of the season with more than a single grab during Washington's loss on Christmas Day, though he recorded a higher yardage total Week 15 versus the Giants due to a 36-yard downfield catch. The second-year pro played 61 percent of offensive snaps versus the Cowboys. Sinnott will close out the year as Washington's starting tight end during the team's regular-season finale on the road against Philadelphia in Week 18.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Muted output again
Sinnott caught one pass on two targets for five yards during the Commanders' 29-18 loss to the Eagles on Saturday.
Sinnott's lone catch came midway through the fourth quarter, when he hauled in a five-yard pass from Josh Johnson, who replaced Marcus Mariota (hand) in the third period. Sinnott has caught one pass in each of his last three games, and while his snap count on offense has increased after Zach Ertz tore his ACL in Week 14 against the Vikings, the former's offensive production has not. Next up for Sinnott and the Commanders is an NFC East home tilt against the Cowboys on Christmas Day.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Catches one pass vs. Giants
Sinnott caught his lone target for 36 yards in Sunday's 29-21 win over the Giants.
In Sinnott's first full game without Zach Ertz (knee), he logged a season-high 34 offensive snaps and finished with the third-most receiving yards on the Commanders. The 2024 second-round pick from Kansas State has now caught all five of his targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in 13 appearances this season. Sinnott may have an expanded offensive role and serve as Washington's top pass-catching tight end in the Week 16 matchup against the Eagles.

Commanders' Ben Sinnott: Catches lone target in Week 14 loss
Sinnott caught his lone target for an eight-yard gain during Washington's 31-0 loss to Minnesota on Sunday.
Sinnott played just 13 of 52 offensive snaps (25 percent), but the second-year tight end's role should be larger over the final four games of the regular season after Zach Ertz tore his ACL during Sunday's loss. With Ertz done for the year, Sinnott and John Bates will be the top tight-end options on the Commanders' active roster while practice-squad member Lawrence Cager provides depth at the position.
